Mrs SPD and I are planning on taking my dad to see Merida, Campeche, Izamal, Valladolid, and then end up in PDC. Still deciding if we want to go to Xpujil again, there are some ruins besides Calakmul we want to see.

We’ve had the hotel for two years. We were living in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato up until Covid changed everything. So we bought a hotel and it’s been a lot of fun…and work! Only a half hour away are the ruins of Edzna! Tren Maya doesn’t really bring more (yet) and I’d say maybe 80% of our guests are Europeans who rent a car and tour, making a stop here in Campeche

We do the rental car and tour. A year ago we got an SUV and hired a guide to see Calakmul. Loved the drive from Campeche to Xpujil.

We're debating taking Tren Maya to Palenque or do a rental SUV and do Palenque and Piedras Negras.

You worried about Beryl? We've been following its track for a few days now. Really hoping it just turns north.

My dude! Thanks. Was working up in Seattle on the 29th.....woke up and headed home yesterday. It's interesting how birthdays change huh. Turning 30/40/50 weren't that big of a deal to me.
But yesterday was a perfect day. Did some summer cleaning around the house with the wife yesterday. Watched some soccer with her. Nice dinner and bike ride down to Baskin Robbins and ended the night off with a fire in the backyard. Perfect day. Only presents I got were a couple new pillows for the bed and come Chuck Taylors.

We really do. A bunch of places, but they’re too fancy for me. I’m old school I like the old school ice cream.

Let me know and we can plan. It’s an adults-only small 9-room boutique hotel. Breakfast included and we are a great hub location for you to explore Mayan ruins nearby, etc. Watch a YouTube video about Campeche. We are not a “beach” city as we have a 3.5 mile long malecón / sea wall and walk however beaches are nearby. It’s a 2 or 3 day visit and you can drive two hours to the city of Merida and visit there on the same trip.

FAMS!!!! Thanks for the kind words. Crazy getting old huh? Kids all grown up, body parts aching, all that shit!

Had a great overnight trip down to Cannon, my favorite spot. My present is actually going to start this Sunday. Driving my daughter back down to college in SF. Going to go down the coast most of the way…..always wanted to do that.

Being able to come on here and read uninformed, uneducated, horrible takes on my favorite team is the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks to you all!
