OT Happy Halloween!

How many big time Halloween fans do we have here?

Has anybody carved or painted pumpkins?

I am currently working on my pumpkin. I love carving pumpkins and have been pleased with how some of my past carvings have turned out. I wasn’t going to carve one this year but I saw an IG post by NASA Glenn where you can submit your carvings and I thought “challenge accepted”. So I quickly decided to carve a space shuttle flying through space with a spiral Galaxy. It’s definitely a process because of the detail but I’m making progress and hope that it comes out well.

If we had enough interest I think it would be cool next year if we carved Blazer themed pumpkins and share our creations with each other.

Usually at churches, people gather their cars in the parking lot, decorate them, and give out candy to kids who wander from trunk to trunk. Designed as a safer, more efficient, and more community-involved alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.

Our church did ours on Sunday. Also had a lot of indoor activities set up, food, beverages, music, etc.

Yeah this is a school but pretty much the same. Gets the neighborhood together without the house to house thing. Little more controlled and more secure. Still way too much candy.

I can’t believe I didn’t post a picture of it last year. Man I feel bad now, how lame of my past self…

It didn’t turn out as well as I was hoping.



I feel like it turned out alright. Ive definitely gotten better, but I’ll never have the hand eye coordination for things like drawing, writing, carving, surgery…

Anybody got plans for any pumpkin carving/decorating this year?

Been thinking about what I want to do this year. I had not really tried the kind of shading style of carving as I did last year with that one. Took a decent amount time and patience, which is one of my favorite things about carving pumpkins, and why I bring myself to do it each year. It’s like a practice in patience. Reminding myself that the time is worth it. Even if in a few weeks it will be joining its family at McFarlane’s yard recycling.

I actually think that has something to do with it. The patience comes with the knowledge that before long what you’ve spent time on - won’t exist.

I kinda want to do a Blazer themed pumpkin. I’m pretty hyped for the team. I want other people to be hyped too.

I actually feel like I just came up with a sick idea… I’m not going to say it, I need to think of the logistics.

I also have a horrible habit of setting my expectations higher than I can reasonably achieve. Like I’ll have this “great idea” before considering the logistics of it.

Go with a Jerami Grant pumpkin; it will look great for a few minutes, and then suddenly disappear.
