The real cost is over-generous benefits. Oregon schools pay $.65 in teacher benefits for every $1 in salary. A fair value would be in the $.05 to $.15 range.

Why would 5-15 cents be a fair value rather than some other number?

So is everybody going in circles in this conversation? Has anything been solved? Or are we still blaming video games, diet, and insomnia for school shootings?

Not trying to hijack the thread, but can you provide a press release on that? It's still Oregon State University as far as I know.
pretty sure he's right about that...I have an OS beaver logo on my fridge...I still call it OSU ...I don't care if Oklahoma and Ohio use it as well

That is just a logo. An old one at that. I don't understand how they "removed the U". It will always be Oregon State University.

This is fine...and intelligent people also draw from experience and value systems...these are not exclusive but if you need a law library to talk to...I'm probably not your guy.....if that's all they've got....they're just reading and pasting view they agree with....that's why there is original thought...whether you respect those thoughts is another issue....it's a trend in this political environment to lead by insult....all good...I wrote a post about the submachine gun in the 20's and crime sprees on an earlier debate and it became an argument about what machine guns are..to each his own...consider that shootings in schools, churches, discos and country concerts in Vegas in my 64 years is a pretty new type of violence in the America I've grown up in. Bank robbers, criminals, sure...gang members ..sure..most of them in the 20s would not shoot up a high school...feel free to post a poll in response if you like
All opinions should be respected.
With that said, we live in a world where opinions are taking over America, despite having an accurate foundation or platform of which to form that opinion they are so vociferous about.
We really do need to get back to the facts of things rather than following the loudest opinion in the news or wherever. Unless that opnion is backed by the facts.

Unless that opnion is backed by the facts.
My experience tells me facts can be skewed to achieve an agenda....my frustrations are that politics are driving these constant stalemates and work that needs to be done to move the ball forward is bogged down with partisan narrative....and complete subjectivity more often than not. Lots and lots of conflicting editorials out there that are designed to seem really factual...it's why I shut the TV off decades ago....but TV spin creeps over to the internet anyway...there's no way to contain the bullshit. Trust.....this is what we need...unconditional trust...that's a healthy relationship...there's virtually no trust in Washington DC these days
