Harriet Tubman replaces Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill

Saying I'm proud and that I agree with it being done still doesn't mean what you said. My statements are positive ones. Saying "it's about time" is a negative one.

All of that said, it has nothing to do with my choice for president. Again you completely took it off topic and your post was stupid. Way to derail a thread.

Taking someone off the currency to put someone else on. It must be about time. I see you back peddling. Go for it.

They can mint new currency and put whoever they want to on it. They've been doing that with stamps for years.

What are people going to say now that they ain't spendin dem Jacksons

They should just switch from Andrew to Jesse.

Or Micheal.

#Jackson

They should have put an indian on there as a real fuck you to Andrew Jackson.

That coin had nothing to do with Reagan. It was during the Carter Administration.

In 1981 Reagan was president.

The coin was hated by everyone because it was about the same size and looked like a quarter. It was called the "Carter Quarter" as yet another idiotic thing Carter did.

I like the 1 and 2 euro coins. wish that shit caught on here.

What does Reagan being President in 1981 have to do with a coin that was conceived, designed and designated in 78, and minted in 79?

when it was decided to go with the coin, it was during clintons administration. Not that it matters who was President, just stating facts.
I hear you, i assumed bush because the coin i pasted had a date of 2003 and assumed it would be the first year, i was wrong, hence why i was unsure and put ?!?!?! Clinton did have a part by signing the bill (i believe before they chose who would actually be on the coin).
Bush signed something in 2007 though
On September 20, 2007, Pub.L. 110–82, known as the Native American $1 Coin Act, was signed by president George W. Bush.[11]The act specified in part that the one dollar coin shall depict "images celebrating the important contributions made by Indian tribes and individual Native Americans to the development of the United States and the history of the United States."[11] The act also called for the removal of the date from the obverse and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" from the reverse of the coin, opting instead to add them to the edge.[11]

I saw the year, thought I'd mention it. There were women on our money a long time ago.

oh snap, i had tubman confused with rosa parks, yo.

I think all of our money should have Real Americans, not politicians, on it, and Harriet Tubman absolutely was a Real American, but...

1. I don't think it's by accident that the first woman on our money is the manliest, homeliest woman I have ever seen in my life.

Seriously, pick a flattering photo out of these, or even just one that doesn't scare the bejeesus out of you.

2. I predict the $20 bill will fade in popularity as many people will refuse to accept them due to the PC crowd choosing Jackson (hero of the south) as the loser in this switch and attacking him for owning slaves, something 12 of our first 18 Presidents did. Washington (owner of over 300 slaves) and Lincoln are on multiple monies and should be the first ones to be supplanted.

That's the stupidest comment you've ever made Denny. Just stupid.

I don't vote based upon skin tone.

You just did. And told us so with this post.

"Amazing. I'm so proud of us for doing this. Just like the little white sixth grade girl said on KGW:

We have our first woman on our money that isn't a president, white, or an old man."

Certainly you've had a 10 dollar bill though. Good old non president Alexander Hamilton.

Alexander Hamilton was easily one of the 2 or 3 most important persons in the formation of our country, perhaps the most important.

It certainly never could have occurred without him.

He was also the first major American leader who actively sought to end slavery.
