Barnes is a 1 or 2 option on the Mavs where as Hood is around 4rd or 4th option with the Cavs and not much help on that team this year to get him easier baskets.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.fcgi?request=1&sum=0&player_id1_hint=Harrison Barnes&player_id1_select=Harrison Barnes&y1=2019&player_id1=barneha02&idx=players&player_id2_hint=Rodney Hood&player_id2_select=Rodney Hood&y2=2019&player_id2=hoodro01&idx=players

Barnes $24+ mil
Hood $3.4mil

For $21 mil a year difference I will take Hood all day long as the production isn't all that much different.
Luka is far and away the number one option. Barnes would be the #1 option on Cleveland. The fact that hood couldn't be more than the 3 or 4th option on a team that bad should say something especially when his game, in theory, is to be a scorer. They brought Hood into Cleveland hoping he could be a scoring threat for them and that never really materialized. So Portlands bringing him in hoping the same thing. We can say oh he's playing with Dame now, and sure that might be a good point except Hood just played with a guy named Lebron last year...
I get the salary stuff, Barnes is being paid a lot. I hope Hood does well he seems like an alright guy.

and I said Barnes was either 1 or 2 option. Also, Hood only played about 20 games with James and that was with a late season trade so hard to put much stock in that and James is very ball dominant but Hood still averaged 11ppg. Last year with the Jazz Hood averaged over 16ppg.

Is this not also a late-season trade. I hope he does well, but I'm not really sold on it. Guess we'll find out.

What's not to be sold on it? We gave up nothing of real value and got a player back that has averaged almost 13ppg over his career.

Well sure I liked the trade in general, you didn't give up much. I just don't know if you really got much back either. I'm not sold he actually makes the Blazers better, at least enough that's meaningful.

There is a reason both GS & SA were interested in Rod. The fact we didn't give up much to get a player of his caliber is a good thing too.
Like with all trades time will tell and something else may happen?

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

Olshey didn't pick any of them, and Babbitt was the only lottery pick.

(Just calling Babbitt a lottery pick makes me feel icky.. Hopefully I don't feel that way about Leonard in 2 years.)

Do you feel that way about Leonard, VanillaGorilla? Give us an update!

Once again, we fail to acquire him. Now we have neither Lillard nor Barnes. .

Here’s a thread I didn’t expect to see today.
