It's a whole different thing in a family fight, where you pull your punches, and your displays and threats are just for show to make your point.

If I, as a Christian, punched, kicked and choked a homosexual because of some BS like "the Bible told me to curb-stomp (derogatory term)s b/c they've dishonored themselves", not only would I be in jail for assault but also for a hate crime. Holding rallies and workshops (I'm just assuming they were legally done, it didn't say in the article that they incited riots or anything, but I don't know that for a fact) that someone illegally acts on is once again is decoupling responsibility from the individual. For instance, "The Monster" Eddie Long regularly holds conferences and workshops in the Atlanta area on the same topic as the Uganda people you brought up did: "Homosexual Cure" and "Sexual Reorientation" conferences and workshops. Whether you think he should or shouldn't, that the topic is bogus or not, someone already vilified in America as a bad person is holding workshops and rallies on the exact same topic and doesn't have adherents or listeners commit crimes afterwards. (And if one did, unlike jlprk I think someone should be punished if he/she did).

I'm sure there are people that live under Sharia law that don't punch, kick and choke their relatives because they date non-Muslims. Why can we make a connection in the case to OP posted and not in the case in Uganda?

There's violence in Hindu culture, Jewish culture, Christian culture, Islam culture, etc... Why do we get label Islam as violent because of it's minority sects and not other religions? Why is Islam the "violent religion"?

"Crazy Hateful prison sentences" are keeping them from being killed or exiled for their crimes, so I'm not too worried about their feelings. Unless, of course, you feel that their behavior is justified in society and something to be admired?

YOu know, if you weren't paying to feed and house the people on death row (and just executed them like the judge ordered and jury convicted), you could feed and house people who were legitimately trying to make a life and just need some help. Or instead of locking up child molesters for years/decades, they were allowed onto death row, and then given a one-way ticket off.

I know this guy espoused it, but I'm not sure that hard-core conservatives like Life Sentences in general.
