But the pick cant be had if we continue the experience into the playoffs. How is it a stretch to compare the two? You dont make sense. They are in direct correlation. Don't make the playoffs and get a pick to help the team.
Be a surprise success and make the playoffs and lose the pick but gain the experience in the playoffs.

Its pretty black and white no matter how many shades of gray your trying to paint.

But if we don't make the play-offs we still lose the pick next season. The asset is *gone*, whether we make the play-offs this year or not. It was gone before the season started. It's a sunk cost.

Monroe for the Cavs pick.

In the back of my mind I feel like this trade is an inevitability.

I don't know how I feel about it....
I think it would work. Especially if we could land Barnes (likely would have to let go of Hendo and Leonard in FA).

Dame / Roberts
CJ / Crabbe
Barnes / Harkless
Davis / Aminu / Vonleh
Monroe / Plumlee

That's close to a contender

You guys really think there's a conspiracy to have the Clippers beat Portland?

We just got waxed by 20 and got thoroughly outplayed, outsmarted, and outhustled. We had 0 counters to their coverage, and didn't do shit on defense. Some of the calls (and no-calls) were indefensibly wrong, but that happens EVERY GAME, and against every team. They had very little to do with the final result of the game. Maybe we woulda lost by 15 instead of 20.

BFD, right?

A few of you are missing the whole point. Yes we lost the game on our own, but what if it WAS a three point game. ;Those 5 points you just said... cost us the game then...

The biased referring isn't okay, just because one team is clearly losing regardless.

That's like saying, well a minor league team cant compete with a major league team, so we should let the minor league team have 4 strikes instead of three..

Its complete bullshit regardless of who is more talented or not..

Where is Aminu?

I don't think you could start Davis and Monroe. Probably Aminu/Monroe and Davis bumps Vonleh to the garbage unit.

Ooops my mistake idk why I forgot Aminu. Well he and Davis can start at the 4 depending on the matchup (like when we play LAC and MEM)

I'm curious why you don't consider the affect of one-sided referring on the player's psyche.

Here's an example - It was bad enough trying to defend Griffin, but the refs gave him 12 FTA in that game. He was 9-12 from the line. Outside of Ed Davis or Jordan, he shot twice as many free throws as any other player.

i want nothing more than to beat the clippers but they exposed us last night.
we just dont have the personnel to match up with better teams.
they forced the ball out of dame and cj's hands and made our other players beat us....and we all saw how that went.
aminu is not the answer....we need go after another knock down shooter at SF(id much rahter have Harrison Barnes taking all those shots).
and man...how inept is plumlee at putting the ball in the basket?
I think we will a couple games in this series but i think reality set in last night. we are still multiple pieces away from contending in the playoffs.
this hurt to write BTW
You're going to tear a rotator cuff throwing in the towel that hard.

Didn't he get 7 attempts in the first quarter? Harkless was not allowed to play defense, and poof, his effectiveness as a player is nullified.

Last night I saw a young, and very inexperienced, team come out with something to prove but just tried to play too hard, and do too much. I'm thinking they come out in game 2 with a little more poise, translating into making shots that they were missing last night. I expect a very different game 2, we have an amazing leader in Lillard who, I think, will gather the team and get their minds right.

we need to sign harrison barnes, whiteside, and delladova. then we should try to trade for brandon ingram, sabonis, or gary payton 2 in the draft. any of those will give us immediate impact right. i like ingram cause he is literally the next KD. Sabonis can dominate on offense with his post moves which we desperately need. GP2 will give a defense player with ever improving offense game.
dame/delly/(gp2)
barnes/cj
aminu/crabbe/(ingram)
harkless/davis/vonleh
whiteside/legend/(sabonis)
we need to get rid of plumlee cause he is not going to improve. and he is not good at anything beside maybe rebounding. anyway this team would be unstoppable

Ingram will cost CJ at the very least, with probably more thrown in. Hell, some teams would want Lillard.

Let's not forget that the clips gave up a 3-1 lead last year....but yeah it was a good run for us this year.

Kinda like when Jordan "played great defense" on Lillard and nearly ripped his arm out of his socket?

After the play was dead no less... yes, that one was very bad. I don't think he was trying to injure Dame but my heart stopped for a second.

You act surprised.... a lot of people knew this.

As a team you can't let them out physical you to the point they take you out of your game. Someone has to step up and get in someone face or hard foul. The problem is we just one player to this and that's Kaman. If I was CJ I would told Rivers to fuck off when he was talking to him or if he got to close elbow in the face. Believe me Rivers always was punk as player.

I agree, not that it would've changed the outcome of the game.
Sure.

I would contend though that allowing the Clippers to continue to get away with that kind of conduct without reprimand could very possibly affect the outcome of the series.

seeing as how Ingram is a likely top 3 pick, Sabonis top 10 etc I find it hard to see how you intend us to get to that level in the draft, whilst apparently keeping all key assets outside of Plum/Hendo. Or are you suggesting that Plum/Hendo can be converted into a top pick?

We may have a decent shot at GP2 as a possible second rounder, but outside of that, how is this all going to happen?

but this idea that we can just 'get' ....... Harrison Barnes, Whiteside, Delly, & Ingram needs a little realism & FYI just about every team/fan likes/wants Ingram.

Refs don't allow us physical contact by the Blazers equals a foul, technical foul, or flagrant

Millsap is 31 and the cost would be high. I thought of him too, and a Millsap/Whiteside combo would be awesome. I just don't think the cost would be worth it at his age.

I wonder how much Gasol would cost. He would be a perfect stopgap until Vonleh develops. If we could sign Gasol/Whiteside and bring back the rest of our core, that would be a decent team next year.

Dame
CJ
Aminu/Harkless
Gasol
Whiteside

With Crabbe, Harkless, Davis, Vonleh, Leonard off the bench.
I like ^ team:ygrin: Earlier this season, I felt Whiteside's mental maturity/attitude was bad but it seems as though a talk w/ Shaqass & a good retired center (I forget who it was right now) "got his mind right;" I think I'm now ready to welcome him if we go after him/get him  I want Gasol here but don't want to pay crazy $ for him; I agree w/ what you've said ^ & also, I love the idea of what Gasol could teach Vonleh & all our other 4s & 5s!:solodance:

This what happens when you play soft all year. But you make the referees adjust to your game there not going call everything. But it will show LA that your not going take there crap. But if they going to continue play soft we will be swept that the bottom line.

One thing that comes to mind to me is that the playoffs are important to get a good look at the make up of our team for PLAYOFF BASKETBALL. Which sounds obvious but it is important to remember that the game can be and usually is played very different than the regular season. So I would much rather have made the playoffs this year, even if we get swept and blown out in every game. Because then we can see what we have and make adjustments. Because if we missed the playoffs and got a better pick and made the playoffs the next season then we would still need to evaluate at that time and make adjustments and that pick may not fit at all. So to me that just possibly puts us back 1 year in the process.

This. The playoffs allow us to really negotiate the makeup of our team. It exposes our weakness, emphasizes our strengths, and reveals exactly where we are at and what direction to go in. It is a great tool, especially for a young undervalued, underestimated, overachieving team.

I think we will be fine Game 2.

Dame honestly has impressed me this series. He's working his ass off. The guy is getting dbl teamed like crazy and being guarded by one of the best defending PGs the game has and still putting up solid numbers.

I just really don't think much of this is a lillard thing. The rest of our team is not talented enough to make the Clips pay for letting us play advantage 4 on 3. Other teams have Draymond/Iggy, Kawhi/LMA, Blake Griffin etc etc. We’ve got Aminu/CJ.

I think that those two dudes will shoot better next game, and the trap will be less effective as a result. But if they don’t, there isn’t much Dame himself can really do about it at all.

You know, I was thinking more about the regular foul calls but when I started thinking about the missed technical I came around to your thinking. Dviss pointed out a 2nd play where DeAndre should've been T'd up. That would've gotten him kicked out and would have totally changed the game.

We've only played one game. your pretty easily impressed. :)
