I am getting snipped in 23 hours and counting.

The wife and I have two kids and don't want anymore so I not worried about changing my mind on it down the road.

And it is supposedly a pretty minor procedure so I shouldn't worry about too much pain or anything. But I do a little. It is just something about giving up your man parts (well the part of your man parts that make your man parts anyways). I know it is silly but we are biologically wired to want to keep the sperm.

Can anyone who has had this procedure done calm my fears (which aren't huge - but are bigger then I thought they would be)?

I just did it for round one weekend of March Madness. It really wasn't a big deal, it took less than 15 minutes for the actual procedure. I took it easy that day and the next, and then went back to normal routine. I was playing basketball a week later and not even thinking about it. You'll just be uncomfortable for a few days. :)

And I think it was more about burning than snipping. Good luck!

I did it about 5 years ago. Like ant said, it was nothing. Quick procedure, short "recovery", no real downtime--every guy should do it once they're done procreating. The idea some have that it somehow reduces ones masculinity is silly.

Been there. If you don't mind your scrotum turning black for several days, it's a fun time. Once it's healed you'll never think of it again.

I'm either sterile or have the withdrawal method down pat. Guess we will find out in a couple years.

Some on here should do it before attempting to procreate.
Me me me me me me me me me. If you saw my nieces you'd think otherwise, they're amazing. I'm 7 years older than my brother, wish it was the other way around. Could have shown girls pictures of them and said "you too could have kids like this"

How does one go about it? Ask a regular doctor or go to a specialist or just ask my insurance provider?

Save money, get a back-alley vasectomy. Bring a sharp knife and a bottle of whisky.

A couple of years? Are you by any chance having sex with an elephant?

Nope. Wifey still doesn't want kids yet. She says we can try in a year or two.

Every girl I've dated and boned, I've raw dogged it and used the withdrawal method. Never gotten anyone pregnant (they have been on and off birth control). Hence why I said I might be sterile, or I'm a pro at withdrawal.

Speaking of withdrawal, I think it's much more effective than they teach you in school.

Ask your regular doctor to refer you to someone. With most (maybe even all) insurance plans it is free. Cheaper for them then you making your wife pop out kids and them having to cover the hospital bills.

Also, it's good to run with scissors, no need to look both ways, and it's still fun even after someone gets their eye poked out.

Can't say for sure someone is living proof of any of what you said is true.

Withdrawal method though. Been working for me and I'm almost 30.

Deal with it. :cool2:

You could just be shooting blanks, although I'd read where the most likely scenario to get a woman pregnant is if you had some leftover inside that were let go within 24 hours. Or something like that.

Yeah I've read that too. Which is why I think the withdrawal method is much more effective than they teach in schools.

You are now able to shoot blanks and never fear you'll hit the target.

Hey, I was just thinking, when I was a kid we had a tool that would use special rubber bands for cattle. That might be just the ticket for you. The only down side is that you never know when they will just fall off..could get a little awkward.

Yeah, we used the same thing for sheep when I was a kid. I think the tool is called an emasculator lol http://www.coburn.com/xl-tri-band-applicator-33005

Yeah...that looks like the new and improved version that we used. Seems to me we always referred to it as The Bander. Ours was a little smaller than that one. I had a dog that used to cross the highway to visit the female on the other side. Dad and my uncle decided to band the dog. Great plan, but something went wrong in the execution.

Dog squirmed at the wrong time and the bander slipped. The end result was going one for two and the dog hiding for a week.

Well I survived. The procedure isn't bad at all. They numb you up pretty good.

In fact, I would say the aftermath is worse (but still not horrible). I have a lot of ice on the groinal area right now. Without ice? It would be bad.
