Hat Fashion - I dont get it

Can someone explain to me why young adults and kids think its cool to leave the gold sticker on the bill of their baseball hats? I dont understand how or why anyone would think that looks "cool". Who started this ridiculous trend?

I coach my sons indoor soccer team and the opposing coach last night had the sticker on his hat. This guy was probably in his late 20's or early 30's. Seriously?!?! Made the beat down we put on his team even better. 8-2
