Yes, I actually do. I was just being a smart ass and hoping to find an excuse to use that line of thinking in all parts of my life. :) FWIW If Drummond and/or Robinson are on the secret radar I wouldnt mind that at all. I think both players will be good.

:D I like your style! I'm a big fan of Drummond and I think the Basketball Gods will finally feel we've suffered enough over the last 30 years (Bowie, Sabas (no prime), Duckworth (Weigh problems) and Oden)

I would be happy if the Gods finally gave us a HEALTHY serviceable young defensive center at this point. The rest would feel like Christmas morning.

Give me 2 pts, 11 rbs, 2.5 blocks and 80 games played and I will love you for life

You make a good point; something that maybe I didn't give enough thought to. I guess it would only work if Batum's preferred destination was Golden State; then some kind of handshake deal could be made beforehand. Or the Blazers could match any offer and then in December trade him to any club for prospects. Or the Blazers could wait until a team offers and Batum accepts; if that team doesn't have the assets they want, try to add a third team into a sign and trade.. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy but I hope it would be possible. My basic premise is that Blazers should consider trying to rebuild fast with prospects from this draft and I would think there would be some ways to do this.

Yes I agree with the bolded part, I like the idea of picking up multiple players in this draft. We could try to package Wesley, or future picks. But I just disagree that there is ANY POSSIBLE way of including Batum. Have you ever seen a RFA traded in a "handshake" deal before a draft? That kind of deal has never happened in the history of the NBA as far as I know. There is a reason they haven't. Way too much uncertainty on what the team is going to do with cap room in free agency and way too much uncertainty with the price the free agent is going to be able to ask for during free agency. It may even violate the CBA since free agents can't negotiate until July 1st.

Teams are very active up to and on draft day but once the picks have started doing interviews with local media and taken photos in their hats and registered for summer league teams NEVER trade the players. The deal has to be completely finished on draft day or it won't happen. Therefore Batum is totally irrelivant to any trades involving draft picks.

Funny thing is, had the Blazers drafted Drummond, and he only played 21 mpg and missed 22 games with injury, I don't think people would be reacting the same way to him.

I see a lot of injury problems for him, just like most other athletic bigs who get injured. The outliers are Ilgauskus and Sabonis, but Z wasn't athletic, and Sabonis was able to keep his high BBIQ and adjust his game once his athleticism went away.

This thread is hilarious to read from start to finish. So many people were wrong about last years draft. For the better of course, couldn't be happier with Lillard.
