Head Coach thread (1 Viewer)

He's a drunk, a wife beater, and he purposely spilled ice on the court to stop a game because he was out of timeouts. And that's just the stuff that's gone public. He has demonstrated a lack of character, ethics, and integrity. That's enough for me.

And his coaching has proven to be mediocre. We've had mediocre. Dame, the team and the fans deserve better.

Just this spoiled drink incident makes him better coach than Stotts was.

I knew this minion would have a different tone when put in front of a camera. “Very intrigued by Billups” is a lot different than the toss away sentence at the end of an article that leaned heavily one way. I still say Billups is the choice.

Playcalling has never been less important

It's the player, not the play, who will determine a coach's fortune. As coaching has evolved from craft to art in today's NBA, fewer possessions are strict interpretations of the coach's playbook. Sets that were once ordered by the sideline are now basic actions that promote playmaking opportunities in a free-flowing system.
Devising a coverage scheme is a task that can be delegated to a bright assistant, but listening to a player, demanding accountability from him and his 14 teammates, and voicing a message that inspires rests with a head coach.
So next interview question, What is your superman power?

The Billups candidacy may be just as dubious as Kidd's:

an isolated incident that may or may not have been criminal 25 years ago with no charges vs an actual guilty plea and multiple other incidents is not the same thing.

What if Olshey paid Kidd off lolol this way he doesn’t have to tell Dame Dolla Kidd ain’t the guy. I never believed the Kidd interest came from managements side.

Fuck ya Kidd dropped out. Now go get Chauncey Billups. I wonder if Kidd saw the backlash his name created reason why he really dropped out

it wont be dantoni, it doesnt make any sense

hes all about run n gun bball, shooting as many threes as you can, we need a head coach who wont insist on shooting threes

sure...that's one way to look at it

the other way is that the GM who was in charge when Portland went 3-point-happy is still in charge. Maybe Olshey believes in the three-ball more than Stotts did. Not only that, his 2 favorite players, CJ and Simons, shoot three's well and if he's determined to not trade either, he's slimy enough to do everything he can to justify that inaction, even if it makes for a team that goes no further than the current one did. That at least would give him another 8M in salary before being fired. Priorities

I am convinced that a lot of the criticisms directed at Stotts should have really been directed at Olshey

but no, I really doubt it will be D'Antoni. Although if it is, Olshey and him can spend the season trying to one-up each other in GQ haircuts

Multiple reporters have suggested Portland has had an eye on a certain candidate for awhile. One of them is Quick who mentioned it on radio awhile ago. Then in that article with Shams a couple days ago it was written that management is intrigued by Billups. Connecting the dots is pretty easy here. I think it’s gonna come down to either Billups or an unexpected candidate that’s still in the playoffs, like Spoelstra or Budenholzer.

Honestly maybe Kidd got word from others or Dame himself he doesn’t plan to be here long. That thought just hit me

Or Vanterpool

Man I’m worried Kidd knows something we don’t. I think Dame is telling him don’t sweat it I won’t be here long

My worry is that Kidd knows something about Dames potentially uncertain future in Portland

That’s exactly what I said. He’s close with Lillard and after that report came out on Friday I’m sure Dame and Kidd talked over the weekend. Something definitely is up
