Its Billups or D’Antoni. Hammon, Barry, etc will interview. They’ll hire one of those two. If Chauncey doesn’t nail interview it’s MDA.
Getting more and more info. Hammon - no way. And it’s very interesting what those inside Spurs org think of her.
Here is what I just got:
- huge ego
- doesn’t work - considered lazy by almost everyone
- players tune her out when it’s her scout
- people internally laugh that she’s a HC candidate
I 100% trust this person and he’s very very well connected to Spurs.
I understand any and all questions or doubt and tbh don’t actually care. Just thought I’d share. Clearly I would not say where I got this. She’s the golden child outside the org. Not inside.
Heads up: if you don’t believe a word of this fine. Do not care. Thought I would share what I heard today from two people who I have known for 20+ years who work in the NBA and one directly connected to Spurs. Carry on. Definitely not worth it I guess. Fuck it.
It was my first question. “Trapped”, “stuck” with her, and hard to fire were what I was told. I was told much more but there is no way anyone here would believe it considering how doubtful people are just of this. The other things I heard and again, fully believe 100%, are far more egregious.

Hammon impressed Portland officials and was generally liked among Blazers staffers, sources said. But when Portland reached out for intel from San Antonio figures, the background on Hammon was not nearly as complimentary pertaining to various aspects of day-to-day coaching responsibilities. That sentiment has been echoed by sources around the league. Blazers personnel then cast doubt that Hammon was the candidate to steer the ship through such delicate waters with Lillard.
Thanks for the heads up.
She's also seemingly not considered for the HC position in Orlando anymore. Couldn't even get a second interview with Boston. Didn't make it far with Indiana last year. Wonder if she will be the first female head coach or it will be someone else...
