No, no it's not. You may want it to be for some odd reason but Lillard will never abandon his teammates and fly home on a private jet after losing in the playoffs. Lillard will never pout. Lillard lives in the community year around. Lillard works in the community year around. Lillard's family lives here. Lillard's kids were born here.

Come on Sly..... do you really think I meant that it was going to be a carbon copy? I'm talking about our star player becoming disenfranchised with the organization.

I guess you missed the fact that Lillard has signed his 3rd contract with the team and LMA bailed after this 2nd.

What relevance does that have on the current situation? If he becomes disenfranchised in contract one or contract three, he's still disenfranchised (not that I know if he is yet)

If you don't know if he is yet how is it the same as LMA? Lillard has shown nothing that he's the mental midget that LMA was. Nothing.

The only similarity is LMA said he wanted to be the greatest Blazer ever while Lillard just shut up and did it.

it’s crazy that some people wouldn’t even give Dame the benefit of the doubt when he’s shown nothing but loyalty time and time again. And for what? Some conspiracy theory based on essentially nothing.

Player giving us advance signs that we might want to explore trades. I really really don't want to believe it, because it's Dame and nothing about Dame has ever given any indications that he's like this, but we set this team back a decade because we let LMA walk for nothing. We have basically been trying since he left to get the team back to a contending status, and we're really no closer today than we were the day he left.

How is this the same? Dame might have more time left on his contract, but if he becomes disgruntled his value goes down. He's also getting older, so as he gets older his value goes down. He will never be worth more than he is right now. His value will only decrease from here out. Do I want to trade him? No. I want to see what this team can do with another coach. I want to see what Neil can do with the fire REALLY under his feet. But if we have another shit season next year, we might seriously need to consider trading him.

what would make anybody believe that Dame's character is the same as Aldridge, or that their words were worth the same?

I don't think he realizes that he has had a negative effect on the future of the team with his crazy loyalty to CJ and Stotts. It's like he blames the team for our continued struggles.

1. Dame has never showed he would try any less harder on the court whether he likes the make up of the team or not. So him being disgruntled and hurting his trade value isn't really a valid argument.
2. If for some reason Dame does become disgruntled it will have zero effect on his value 4 years from now when his contract is up. Age, injury history, and skill will be the determination. Not disgruntlement.
3. And now we get to the truth of the matter. It has nothing to do with Dame suddenly becoming disgruntled. It has to do with getting value for the team moving forward if we're no closer to winning a championship. 2 more years of the Olshey unable to put together a roster that doesn't have to struggle to make the 6-8th seed only to lose in the first round while not able to make good trades and build assets then yes, out of necessity for the franchise and respect for Lillard you have to consider moving Lillard like we did Drexler.
4. You want to make the argue to trade Lillard then make that. But trashing him as some sort of justification is wrong.

But trashing him as some sort of justification is wrong.

Trashing him? Come on man.

And you can't seriously think that a player asking to be traded doesn't lower their value. Do you think the Rockets got the same value for Harden that they would have gotten two years ago?

And what happens if Lillard goes public and says I want CJ gone and Olshey doesn't trade him? CJ still being here is on Olshey, not Lillard. Lillard has had lots of players on the team that he liked and were traded away. And the players that were their replacements Lillard has still welcomed and bonded with. Lillard may love CJ as a close friend but he'll welcome his replacement if CJ is traded.

They have said many times that CJ and Nurk are like family to Dame. That's just a tad different than Will Barton.

If Harden had 4 years instead do 2 I don’t think he would have made his demand public. Also Harden sandbagged the team to get out. That’s fairly unprecedented and I really can’t see Dame doing that, especially with how the franchise has treated him. That’s out of character.

Also, I’d wager to say Harden with 4 years has almost the same value as Harden with 2. The teams that would trade for him are the same teams, and they would give the same offers. Same applies to a hypothetical Dame scenario.

Ok, but are you making the argument that public trade demands don't lower value?

You guys are acting like I said this is literally the exact same situation as Aldridge, and I'm not saying that. Stop freaking out.

I think it's bullshit that Dame is the reason Stotts stayed for 9 seasons. That was Olshey's call and I have not seen anything that says Olshey was opposed to the way Stotts coached the team

If Stotts was going to be fired after the Pels series (when he SHOULD have been fired) and Dame stepped in, that's on Dame. 100%.

no, it would be on the GM that was going to fire him, but didn't

and I'll say again, the narrative of that leak could only come from one source. It wasn't Dame and it wasn't Paul Allen

And from what I heard Earl Watson was and still is extremely close to Lillard and the Blazers wouldn't even look at him for an assistant coaching position. If Lillard is this friends only monster he couldn't have gotten the Blazers to toss Earl some crumbs after being fired from the Suns?

It’s not even in the same universe. There is no comparison.

Star player, unhappy with the direction of the team, and team is hiring coach to appease star player... yup... not even the same universe. Not sure how I even came up with that thought.

Didn't Harden not show up to training camp this year? You really think Lillard would pull something like that? I sure don't.

yeah

this "Dame has been holding the team hostage" narrative is major league bullshit IMO. It's just too conveniently covering Olshey's ass from accountability....which gives a real good indication where it's coming from

I heard Lillard is going to force the Blazers to play half their home games in Oakland.

I think Harden was the worst care scenario of when a player asks for a trade and his team doesn't accommodate the request. He kept behaving worse to force their hand. I don't see Dame doing that, but I would also hope that we would have learned our lesson from LMA and actually trade Dame if he ever asked to be traded.

Do you think Stotts or CJ would still have been here if they weren't close with Dame?

I thought the lesson we learned from LMA is don't let a player walk for nothing. We have 4 years before that could happen with Lillard.
