Man, I should run for mayor of this joint! First thing I'd do is fire Denny and get strippers for everyone!

hating on real laker fans seems to have a bandwagon nowadays too.

I'm one of the few that is willing to go down with the ship when it comes to Greg. I refuse to think that somebody blessed with the skills I saw while he played at OSU and Vegas Summer League will not become a dominant NBA big man. Injuries are a freak accident and unfortunately Greg has had his share, that doesn't mean I'm giving up on him. He's already considered a bust by some, so he can only go up right. It's easy for people who say on here..... trade him for this or that, but a healthy Greg I believe puts us over the top!
PS- It doesn't help that he is so damn cool. He is a great guy! Wish he was a prick, maybe Id feel different!
I'll make it simple for you. How many of the following hypothetical possibilities, if added to this year's playoff roster, result in title contender?
Marc Gasol:
Al Horford:
Healthy Greg Oden:
If teams can win championships with Luc Longley and Kendrick Perkins and Andrew Bynum, then we could win with Horford or Gasol.
KS, rather than posting 4 times in 14 minutes without responses in between, can you make one post instead?
I don't see Greg as "nicey nice" on the court. I see a guy who takes it personally on defense and will clobber you. I remember a play where he hit "King" James pretty hard and denied him a shot. The "King" didn't like it one bit, he took a look at Greg and my impressoin was he decided to keep his feelings to himself and keep walking. Smart move. Greg Oden might be the only player in the league who can intimidate Lebron. I'll take that Greg Oden, even if it is only for the final 20 games of the season followed by a long playoff run.I would listen to offers, chances are he is going to be injury prone. I also think he lacks the killer instinct we need at the center spot, we need at least 3 players who will kick ass and take names, this nicey nice shit is really getting old. Get me someone like Maggette!

HCP, well said. Injuries like GO's should happen to an a-hole like Bonzi; he doesn't deserve them. I'm of the mind that we haven't seen GO at 100% yet. He's either not been in basketball shape or the team hasn't figured out how to play with him. I expect to see that GO sometime after the All Star break, and I can't wait.
This is the argument I completely disagree with.
Why give Oden away for what we could get in a trade when his stock is "way down", when it seems clear that the upside is so high?
I'm with the other posters...
Oden is the key to us winning a championship in the near future. If his stock is "way down", we aren't going to get a player in return that will make us contenders. We need to hope that Oden returns healthy. That is the only way we will become serious contenders. Not by trading him while is value is low.
However I disagree with you that he is the ONLY way we will become serious contenders. That's ridiculous.
As constructed.. yes it is. Unless we somehow get asuperstar in the draft or for the MLE or a S & T then a healthy Oden is the best and most realistic way of becoming contenders. IMO.
SARCASM! SARCASM!
SARCASM! SARCASM!

So Im bandwagon fan just because I root for the Lakers...So me going to my first Lakers game when I was 5 or 6 with my dad, watching 90% of their games since then, and them being the only team in ANY sport I root for....all that doesnt matter to the all knowing OddEnourmous...
...im soooo bummed you dont have higher regard for me....
The year before winning the championship Kobe is getting MVP chants in Boston....both teams have bandwagon fans but I guarantee you that shit would never happen in LA for a Boston player
Great stuff. hating on real laker fans seems to have a bandwagon nowadays too.

2) Trade Oden while is value is "way down" for a non-star caliber player, but perhaps a decent, and valuable player.
- This results in us being better than last year, but not serious, consistent title contenders. A minor, and IMO, insignificant and meaningless improvement.
I'll take my chances with option #1.

do you mean you expect to see the REAL GO after the all star break? or that he wont play at all until then?
I mean that the first couple of months of the season will be spent working himself into elite basketball shape (like Andre Miller) and the first half of the season will be spent with Roy and Aldridge learning to sublimate their games to work with a dominant low post presence. I don't have doubts about LMA; I do doubt that Brandon will willingly let GO take the number of shots he should.

Well considering when Oden was playing last year it appeared to me at times the team froze him out of the offense, I have every reason to be concerned. Fortunately, one of the players who was a big culprit (Blake) is now gone.
That was troubling, wasn't it? The difference this year is that Dre is a great passer into the post as well as delivering the alley oop. My concern comes more from Brandon. He pouted when Miller controlled the ball; what's he going to do when we have a legitimate post player demanding high percentage shots.
youre right.. if Brandon Roy somehow morphs into one of the top 3 SG's of all time we should be set.
