<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%">Actor Heath Ledger Is Found Dead</span>

The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near body.

Mr. Ledger, a native of Perth, Australia, won acclaim for his role as a co-star in “Brokeback Mountain”, a 2005 film. The film, based on a short story by Annie Proulx about two cowboys who fall in love, won critical acclaim. Reviewing the film in The New York Times, the critic Stephen Holden wrote, “Mr. Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears beneath the skin of his lean, sinewy character. It is a great screen performance, as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn.”

Calls by The New York Times to Mara Buxbaum, a publicist for Mr. Ledger, and Steve Alexander, the actor’s agent, were not immediately returned this afternoon.</div>

I hope this is not a sick publicity stunt for the new Batman. He was a good actor. R.I.P.

Woah wtf!? At first I thought this was some kind of joke or something.

This is just sad.

R.I.P.

This is the second young actor die in a week. Brad Renfro just over dosed a couple of days ago.

6 minutes later and I'm still shocked.

Mamba is going to sh*t in his pants.

I'm floored. And I'm just stunned.

RIP.

what the hell

holy shit

It still hasn't really sunk in yet.

Wow, I can't believe this. He was great in The Patriot. Damn good actor. It's really sad to see something like this happen.

RIP

I am very surprised, I was impressed by the little bits I saw of the joker. Too bad, RIP.

Wow. Just shocked right now.

RIP

wow RIP, only 28, this is very sad

Wow. Sad news. I remember seeing him for the first time in The Patriot. Great actor.

He is like one of the Biggest names to ever come out of my Hometown along with Bon Scott and a few others no-one on this board has heard of. Luc Longley? No he wasnt really big news was he...

I only ever briefly met him once, he was at a pub I used to work at. A little bit arrogant he came across as but he seemed to be a funny guy. A few dudes I know were younger than him and went to the same highschool. Same deal, funny guy but a little too aware of his abilities. There will be a lot of bummed out people in Perth today. Shame, I really liked a lot of his work...

R.I.P. dude

This is such sad news, what a terrible loss. RIP heath ledger. he was a fantastic actor in lords of dog town and ned kelly.god, i still am shoked, so sudden, i never knew that ledger would be into drugs, which is what is being reported as the cause of death. maybe it was suicide, maybe an accident, it is still such a terrible loss.

I found out in the middle of a lecture when I peeked at some girl's laptop screen. Didn't believe it until now. I'm still kinda shocked actually.

R.I.P.

Wow. Talk about unfortunate. The guys career was really starting to hit stride and probably would've propelled to astronomic proportions with his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Speaking of that, what's going to happen there? Were they done, if not who would they replace him with?

I'm pretty sure they already finished filming the movie.

Anyways, this is really sad and horrible to hear. He was only 28 years old too. I wish his family and friends the best. Man, it's going to be really tough watching the movie. I mean, Joker's the bad guy, so you'd obviously root against him, but after this incident, it will just seem awkward. RIP

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Heath Ledger was reportedly suffering from pneumonia, according to TMZ. The pills were over the counter sleeping pills and accidental overdose is not being ruled out. An autopsy is being performed tomorrow.</div>

Moo - Everything that Heath had to do with TDK is done, he finished it all.

Terrible news.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Lavalamp @ Jan 23 2008, 01:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>So were they planning only have Joker in 1 Dark Knight film?</div>

Doesn't look like they have a choice now. Unless they want to get a replacement for the next film, which will really blow if Ledger kills it in "The Dark Knight."

Edit: Oh boy....^no pun intended!

I think it would be f'd up if Nolan re-casted the position, even if the movie ends and there is some sort of a cliff-hanger. Just from the trailer alone, Heath's performance as The Joker is getting incredible reviews. I'm telling you right now it'll blow away Nicholson's Joker.

Wow so many young actors have died of Drug abuse. ( I assume Ledger died of Drug Abuse as they found Pills next to him)

Heath
Brad Renfro
River Phoenix
etc.

R.I.P

You are right, but this is being treated as an accidental overdose.
