Right.

From: Hurriyet.com

Speaking at a press conference, Hedo said that the decision to sign with the Raptors was not a hard one to make. "I look at the team; I look at the opportunities," he said. "It was easy for me.".........

He may have a point. He needs the ball in his hands.

We have a player that's a few tiers above him that has the ball in his hands already.

Of course, Toronto has Calderon that needs the ball to be effective. I guess that they are ready to trade him, or something.

Will be interesting to see.

It's an easy decision if you'd rather be the star of a bad team for more money than a supporting player on a great team.

"It was easy for me," said Türkoğlu. "I promised Portland I would sign with them, and then I went
back on my word. It was very, very easy."

Calderon doesn't need the ball to be effective. Not at all.

More shots. More money. More pussy.

Sounds like an easy decision to me. Haha.

Actually, I am surprised he'd say it was "easy". Oh, well.

I can't blame a player for looking out for his own interests. I can blame him for being an asshat about it. After hearing those comments, I am convinced he just used Portland as a negotiating tool, and that he lied shamelessly to the Blazers.

Before reading this, I had no animosity against the guy. Now, I hope he winds up like Maurice Stokes.

Nor does Roy. The fact is, however, that they are both more effective when they are the primary ball handler. In other words - the situation is not different from this regard.

As if that retarded bank-shot 3 from last season wasn't enough to hate Turkeyglue for...

Exactly. I don't think he wanted to be 4th fiddle, plus worry about whether Nate would let him play to his strengths -- he probably wouldn't. In the end, not a good fit.

You and I may be the only two on this board that know about Stokes and what happened to him.

As an aside note, do you know that his teammate and best friend Jack Twyman legally adopted Stokes so that he could care for him?

He should have just stayed in Orlando for the $9 million a year extension. Is $10.6 million a year in Toronto really worth leaving Orlando for?

Not going to work out the numbers exactly. But if you start calculating the taxes, the actual take home money isn't going to be all that different.

Orlando = 9 * (1 - .35 - .04 - .06/2) = $5.22 million take home money.

(First decimal is the national income tax, the second number is the agent fee, and the third the average state income tax for road games).

Toronto = 10.6 (1 - .35 - .04 - .06/2 - .09/2) = $5.67 million take home money.

Numbers aren't exact. Just some estimates on the average state income tax and the toronto tax (have no idea what it actually is, but there is some weird signing bonus thing with canada, that makes the end affect closer to a US state income tax, otherwise, layers would absolutely hate to play in Toronto because of the massive amount they'd be taxed).

SF-Hedo Turkoglu

C- Dwight Howard

If he wanted to win a championship, while still becoming filthy rich, he would have signed there. But winning isn't everyone's number one priority. $1.7 million or so of extra take home money over the next four years is still a lot of money.

I know Canadians pay a lot more taxes. He will regret this in a year or two...enjoy your long summers:lol::crazy:

I recall reading that. We should all be so lucky as to have a man like Twyman for a friend!

As for the Royals (as an organization)....their rather indifferent attitude toward the situation will always be a blot on the franchise.

Clearly he must love the city of Toronto and has given a move their high priority for some time, also refer to my comment above about his pic needing a thought bubble with a giant vagina and prison bars in front of it; I'm guessing Banu was threatening to close up shop unless they moved there :dunno:
