Edit: Choking!! Why can't typos be fixed in the title??

Anyway, I can't stop laughing and I started choking on this succulent thigh. According to John Hollinger of the top notch (*cough* fuck that noise, man *cough*) institution that is The Athletic, the Blazers are predicted to be 2nd worst in the West with 31 wins.

Oh reeeeeeally????? You fucking morons! We are going to be worse than Utah and NO and....oh just forget it. Braindead masterbeat/bate reporters.

We will better than last year.

FFS, chocking, gaaaawd. I guess it will be a new word. "I chocked on a churro today, but it was worth it."

Better?

Using my crock pot (actually different brand of slow cooker) tomorrow. Chicken tagine. Boneless thighs (bones will eventually go into stock), garbanzo, pumpkin from garden, slices slow cooked.

I found out some interesting things re: crock potting.

You can cook instant potatoes in them, and you can cook "TV" dinners in them too.

But cooking potatoes is easy. Why instant?

I don't know, maybe dealing with an 80 year old, confined to a wheel chair, I find it much easier to just put in a single serving pouch of instant potatoes that I can just dump into a crock pot and not have to worry about it while I do other things? Like, you know, taking care of an 80 year old who is confined to a wheel chair?

Maybe instead of being judgy you can just respond with "huh, I didn't know that was something that could be done. Interesting. It's not for me, but I don't want to discourage someone from saying something about something they wanted to share because not everyone has the free time to cook a 3 course meal"?

It'd be like if someone said "oh hey, i just found out that it's not difficult to change a tire" and I went "Lol. newb. How can you be so dumb!" instead of like "oh hey, awesome. I know it's something I find incredibly easy, but good for you for discovering something that clearly makes your day easier".

Dealing with aging parents is hard, sounds like you're doing an amazing job.

Damn. Sounds like a no fun situation. Apologies, sincerely, actually not intended to be judgemental of you, just the potatoes. I hope you are getting some relief so you don't have to cope single handed 24/7.

And I really don't like Martha Stewart.

That's called cannibalism

I did once cannibalize two crock pots to make one.

Well, I had one working crock pot with a cracked pot, and one non working crock pot with an intact crock.

How many of this has to do with the Kamloops Blazers record this year is beyond me.

(and yes I know that you can just remove the r from the word and @THE HCP will giggle)

You should look into meal prepping bro. If you ever have some free time you can freeze single servings which can be thawed out later. All you need are the right storage containers.

Nothing against your instant potatoes.

And nothing but respect for giving your time to care for your mother.

Oh I do that too. I have plenty of vacuum sealed meals at the ready. And it's not like I do this for every meal (in fact, I've only done it once), just that I wanted to try it for shits and giggles and found out it worked. And since I didn't want to take the time to do mash potatoes (since I had to leave), I figured it was no different then making potatoes and just keeping them warm in the crock pot. I wanted to see if it would work, and if it didn't, I wasn't out much time or money (it's literally open the pouch, dump in the water and set on medium and let it cook).

I'm still working full time as I do this. So I was just looking for a simple way to see if it would work and in a pinch could do it. And when I found out it actually is not a whole lot different then cooking a regular meal in a crock pot (from scratch) I kinda thought it was neat and would share it in some random thread.

Btw, and I'm not saying anyone here did this, one thing I would strongly suggest to people when they're talking to people taking care of their parents or like a disabled child, please, for the love of god, don't give them suggestions on how to do it differently, especially when that suggestion is kind of common sense.

We know you mean well, but it comes off as "you're doing it wrong. Here, let me who doesn't have to do this tell you how you're doing it wrong". Even if they *know* you didn't mean it that way, it comes off that way.

Chances are they are already trying it that way, and are just looking for a unique way to do something different or easier. It's easy to arm chair QB in these situations.

And again, not sure what any of this has to do with the Kamloops Blazers hockey team.
