Here's A Headline I'm Going To Be Seeing A Lot More

My guess is, now that it's been legalized, there's a more than fair chance that more people will be smoking....therefore, potentially driving stoned.

statistically, many of the people will smoke weed INSTEAD of drinking, thereby taking drunk drivers off the road

And since weed has less effect on one's driving skills, it's decreasing these types of incidents and making the roads a safer place.

That being said, driving while intoxicated of any sorts is just a dumb fucking idea. My parents always had a rule that if I were intoxicated, call them at any time from anywhere, and they'd come pick me up, no repercussions. Worked out just fine for me. The few times I needed a ride, they were there. And I had enough respect for them I didn't intentionally take advantage and overuse this.

So if I understand you correctly, you don't see any increased risk of a driver stoned on weed?

Well, I guess that explains a hell of a lot.

have you ever smoked weed? just curious, you seem woefully ignorant on its effects

I used that same reasoning with my children and it worked. I was lucky that they were wiser than i at their age..as it sounds like you are

i was reading it earlier ill try and find it again

but its kinda common sense

I dont see it

in the fifty plus years I have been around, and believe me I do mean around...drinkers drink, smokers smoke and some do both..thats not even counting the speed freaks and crack heads..etc

my mom had the same deal with me, and ill likely have the same deal with my kids

although i MUCH rather they smoke weed than drink

10 beers fucks you up more than any amount of weed can. Their affects really aren't comparable.

What's more dangerous...a driver who has smoked a joint and then drives (and not preoccupied with a cellular device), or someone who is totally sober, yet incessantly checks texts in the car?

Now, no way am I advocating that it's cool to drive while stoned, but I'm hear to tell ya that, IMO, the texting issue is out of control and probably far more dangerous as a whole.

Agree. I heard somewhere that they expect accidents from texting to exceed those from drinking sometime in the next two to three years.

Well to be honest, for me, it was easy. I never knew my grandfather (my mom's dad) because her senior year of HS, two of her classmates were out drinking and driving and hit her father while he was crossing the street - that's a lifetime reminder of the consequences. So I had responsibility bonded to my brain, as did he.

When a very good friend died (id known him since i was 6-7) my senior year of HS while drinking and driving, then it became permanently embedded.

show me those stats, please. I for one do not believe that.

No stats back this up but if I get stoned I dont feel much like drinking, espeically beer. Its rare I do both, in fact its rare these days that I drink anything but trying to down a beer with cottonmouth is usually a terrible experience. Now on occasion I've been drunk then someone offered me a smoke, thats a quick way to get more wasted than you planned and barf all over the yard.

I agree with those on here that say a high driver is safer than a drunk driver, but both are unsafe and you should never drive impared in any function. Legalizing pot doesnt make it ok to drive stoned either, and anti pot activists use the arguement that legal pot will cause more stoned drives and more access to kids. Both are not true. That being said, the Washington pot DUI limits need some revision. Currently a moderate to heavy smoker can get a DUI with a bad blood test without having smoked a joint that day.

You're a mess. Go back to taunting MARIS.

I don't mean to sully your reputation, but you brought it up.

SlyPokerDog is a lost cause. He's the #1 troll at S2 and I actually thinks he likes it that way.

Maris is a good guy and he likes it that way. Is your definition of troll someone who disagrees with you?
