I'm not going to lie... the whole Oden thing irritates me.

Sounds like hes aiming for a return in about 4-6 weeks, hyped on this:sherlock:

I never understood how people can be mad at a guy for rehabbing... Rehabbing microfracture and a split kneecap CANNOT be fun! Looking forward to seeing the big guy.

It's OK. Not having a timeline is the new having a timeline.

Yeah, I just expect never so I'm not disappointed and getting my hopes up, then maybe, just maybe, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

How many games will it take for him to get acclimated to the game of basketball? It's been nearly an entire year since he stepped foot in an NBA game.

Hopefully with two other healthy C's we can take our time and work him in slowly so he can build his confidence up, which appears badly shaken

Remember when Oden suggested he might be able to play in the playoffs last season LoL... Umm that was 6 months ago.

The rumor is that he re-injured the knee rehabbing before the playoffs, which is why he went back to Indy instead of sticking around for the postseason.

Where did you hear that?

If true it doesn't surprise me that the team is hiding it from the public.

I am a huge fan of Greg's, but it's time to man up and get on the floor if that's wha multiple dr's say you can do. I am starting to think Greg just wants the hell out of Dodge and start fresh

It's starting to feel that way, isn't it?

I don't have a problem with a player rehabbing. I'm not buying the atrophy thing as rehab is supposed to keep that from happening.

But I have to admit, I'm skeptical. We're told he's cleared to play but wants to wait until he feels he's 100%. I can think of good reasons for why he would, or would not, want to play after being cleared to do so. And of course, there's all the internet speculation. Some say he's waiting until he's "100%" so he can play a small amount of the season so as not to get injured again, impress, get large contract offers so he can be like Roy and essentially lose his career but make tens and tens of millions of dollars. Others say he's right to not play when still in pain regardless of being cleared to do so as it's his career and he should not be pressured to play hurt. Still others have reported he doesn't want to play in Portland, but closer to home.

So I guess no one really knows what's rambling around in his noggin.

Everybody loves to speculate on what gregs thinking.. Let me put in my 2 cents, I think Greg is a Caged beast pissed off at all the naysayers out there trashing him, saying hes a bumb, a bust, and is gonna throw his weight around like you wouldnt believe when he gets back. Dunks on people, pissed off aggressive play, rebounds and tough D.
Do you think Greg wanted to do Rehab for all these years? Do you think he likes being ridiculed and called a bust? Do you know how he feels when his family and friends see all this Crap talked about him? Hes a pissed off beast and wants to come back and prove everyone wrong and i wouldnt bet against him. Im betting Greg is dying inside to Shove it down the trash talkers throats.

I believe he would like to prove everybody wrong, but this idea that's some kind of pissed off "caged beast" doesn't really jive with the personality type that he's displayed so far; he strikes me as somebody who is much more melancholy than that.

Yeah... he's not exactly Rasheed Wallace with the "me against the world" attitude.

I'll agree with this for the most part.

I don't doubt Greg, as a professional athlete and former #1 pick, wants to make good. But after seeing Wade, James and Bosh conspire to form a super team, and seeing Amare lobby to do the same... maybe his values are changing a bit. And also, let's not forget Roy signing a max deal knowing he was going to have a fourth and final knee surgery after he signed the deal and thus ending his career- or at least putting it in jeopardy. I see more and more players with a "get mine" attitude and being darn sneaky about it. It's become a very underhanded business.

That is ridiculous.

You may be right. I was going off what the ESPN experts were saying on the radio last night. He signed the extension and soon after had surgery.

If by soon you mean 8 months then yes. He signed the extension in September and was injured the following April....

They reported that Roy pretty much knew he'd have the surgery but kept it from the Blazers. If this is true, then I've lost a lot of respect for him. But why should he care? He's the one making uber millions and laughing about it.

That would be awfully hard to prove unless they were inside of Brandon's head or maybe he really is as diabolical and low rent as you suggest but he was also foolish enough to pull a reporter aside and whisper in their ear, "pssst, don't tell anyone, but I'm going to get knee surgery to repair a non-injury, and I'm going to wait until three weeks before the start of the playoffs. Suckers!"

I don't follow your logic, for two reasons:

a) the Blazers know exactly what is going on with the physical condition of any of their players, and
b) Roy suffered an acute injury. Unless he injured himself on purpose, he didn't know he'd need another surgery.

But this thread is about Greg, so... it's impossible to read his mind. Is there a chance he is holding himself out when he's physically ready to play? Yes. Is it more likely that he's dealing with tendinitis and discomfort, and so is a little freaked out? Yes. Is it most likely a combination of these two things? Probably.

I don't really give a flying hoot whether Greg comes back this week or next month. In my mind, he's out for the season until he comes back, and then it will be a nice surprise.

id just like a 100% honest report on where this clusterfuck of a injurybomb is at.

the mixed reports are just doing my head in - fuck.
