On Canzano's show this afternoon, they were discussing if the slogan Rise With us[i/] is out of date, and, if so, what a good new slogan might be.

I thought about that a bit and have come up with this slogan theme: Hey! Hey! We're The Blazers!

The Monkees would be replaced by various Blazers in the TV ads.

[video=youtube;JmH9ahaTt7k]

Here we come, playin'
on your street.
We get the scaredest looks from
Ev'ry one we beat.

Hey! Hey! we're the Blazers!
And people say we're blazin' around.
But we're too busy playin'
and then we're gonna take you down.

We go wherever we want to,
play how we like to
We don't have time to get restless,
There's always something new.

Hey! Hey! we're the Blazers!
And people say we're blazin' around.
But we're too busy playin'
and then we're gonna take you down.

We're just tryin' to win ballgames,
Come and watch us run and play,
We're the young generation,
And we've got something to say.

Any time, Or anywhere,
Just look over your shoulder
Guess who'll be standing there

Hey! Hey! we're the Blazers,
You never know where we'll be found.
so you'd better get ready,
We may be comin' to your town.

uhhh.... no?

Hey, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. While very talented, the Blazers are still young, silly, and good-natured. This Monkees-type schtick would kind of bring all that out.

Yeah, if done right, those ad spots would be pretty cool. I could definitely see LMA and Sergio hamming it up in their cameos. Brandon and Joel.....Travis.......yeah...........

The Monkies were a big influence on the Beatles.

Hell no. That would be even worse than that stupid Blazers jazz theme they did in the early 90s

how about: "we're back" with a black and white picture of the entire team in a triangle facing the camera with Greg palming a basketball at the camera...mafioso style.

Hmmm.........me thinks this still might resonate with season ticket holders and a good number of fans who effectively pay the bills.

what, have them represented by a bumbling cast of buffoons from the 60s?

I loved that show, but purely for the slapstick of it all. They'll be the laughing stock of sports if they did something that small-time.

A very popular cast of buffoons, I might add. It was kind of a thing of that time. The Beatles did similar stuff.

Besides, if done "right", retro stuff can be very cool. Sure that 60's/70's Monkees stuff was rather cheesy, but if the Blazers found the right advertising firm (Wieden/Kennedy comes to mind) to put some spots together, I think some very creative ideas could be spawned, then get legs from there..........

could you imagine them blaring that at the rose garden to hype the blazers up after a run? haha. it'd be so ironic.

No, I couldn't. And, it would be for that purpose. I'm thinking slogan and TV spots.

rise with us is still okay.

dont change what isnt broke

the current campaign is pretty good, modern....showing a serious team coming together. Your suggestion undermines that all. bunch of loafers/slackers singing and dancing around?

OK, OK....no slogan, but an ad campaign. Plus, my lyrics don't relate loafing and slacking.

The first part of the campaign is "Rise with Us"

the next part should reflect that they have "risen" in some capacity.

otherwise it just doesn't make sense.

I despised the old Blazers jazz band intro...it looked so small time and forced, which this would probably have as well.

When I basically acquiesced and mentioned purely an ad campaign, I meant it as being in an adjunct capacity. Not in terms of being a direct slogan for the team.

I'm still just OK with Rise With Us...but I think the Blazers have already risen and are beginning to take off at this point. That said, IMO, the fun-lovin, Hey Hey stuff would still be a nice compliment to their main slogan and credo.

It's cool, though. I'm always spinnin' ideas............

I think after "Rise With Us" comes "Put On A Raincoat With Us".
