Blazers just announced the signing, but check out Neil’s quote, looks like he learned a new word this year.

Absolutely. Instead of an actual backup PG, we're going with Ant + Mario (MariAnt?).

Personally, I actually like backup PGs, but we're going with talent.

Yeah I think the second unit will look something like this.

Simons
Hood or Bazemore
Hezonja
Skal
Collins

Collins pulls double duty as starting PF and backup C, similar to what CJ used to do at SG/PG. Tolliver only plays if Zach is in foul trouble, small ball, or Skal busts. But maybe we still have another signing left and this is premature.

Agreed, except that the only thing Skal will be busting is "Bust a Move!!".

I'm glad you said this. I think Skal is going to show us something good next season...

I'm still trying to understand what Sacramento was thinking.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

We don't want to expose these bad organizations too much until we take advantage of them a couple more times.

I think he’s Turners replacement.

sure...3 years of a poor-perimeter-shooting point-forward instead of an actual PG worked so well that you might as well make it a 4th year.

career assist/turnover: Turner 1.95....Hezonja 1.11

career assist rate: 19.8%....Hezonja 10.6%

I don't have a problem with Hezonja replacing Turner's minutes, but reprising Turner's role? hope that's not the plan

Good thing some people can look beyond stats. What was Batums assist rate before Stotts came along?

what makes you think Hezonja can play PG besides some 3 game sample? How much have you watched him play?

I’ve watched Hezonja since he was at Barcelona. I’ve posted about him on here for years.
You have, true, but certainly not in glowing terms. The 2016 trade deadline thread contained some particularly unflattering analysis.

Meh that was influenced by his shit play in Orlando. I’ve been pro Hezonja for a bit.

You should probably let him know he can’t do it.

quit being snarky....I don't give a shit about 'winning' this argument and wasn't even looking to start one

it was an honest question. If you've seen him run teams successfully, then explain. I've said before (in this thread I believe) that I know next to nothing about Hezonja. I've probably seen him play less than 30 minutes, and I can't really remember them. So yeah, I'll look at his numbers and form some questions; is that ok? My thinking on a point-forward for Portland is based upon 3 years of suffering thru Turner and the idea that actual forwards with PG skills are really rare

I felt like you were being snarky so I was just giving it back. My bad if I misread it. And I actually haven’t seen Hezonja run an offense beyond those last couple of games last year, of which I’ve only seen clips on YouTube. I do know, or at least think, that he has the passing ability to at least warrant a look in an expanded role though. Why he hasn’t gotten that opportunity yet I don’t know, but he hasn’t exactly played in developmental hotbeds either.

no problem Scalma

maybe he has hidden talents that showed a little in the last 4 games of last season. His experience has been in Orlando and NY and those two teams haven't been very good at evaluating and developing talent lately. And after being a 5th pick that obviously disappointed, maybe he didn't get a fair shake in Orlando

like I said, I have no issue with him taking Turner's minutes. It's just that after Turner, I'm cynical about a point-forward role

as is being discussed in another thread, my preference right now is that Portland rescinds the QO to Layman and fill out the roster by signing a PG and a big
