Kinda wild choice tho. He has been to maybe one game in Moda in 10 yrs. Thought he wanted to disconnect from the team.

Well considering everybody involved at a high level with the team when he was here is gone or died it would be odd for him to still hold a grudge.

Probably the easiest way to build back a little goodwill with the fans in the event he ever wanted to be involved in any sort of way in the future. Low stakes and he brings a little juju after drafting a #1 before.. Or maybe he used all of his good luck already.

Not certain how their season ended but appears Roy was head coach at Garfield high school this last year. He sounds happy to be involved with his kids. Had an Achilles injury and back surgery to recover from the year prior. Looks a bit heavier in photos but glad to hear he seems to be doing great.

I love it.
I loved Roy when he was here and I don't care that he thought he could keep playing and wanted to give it a shot.

I don't care that it cost Paul Allen millions.

I hope this means he'll be coming into the fold.

Agreed. It didn't hit the Blazers salary cap, it was only Paul Allen wallet. His wallet and trusts are fine. The insurance company got the cash instead, maybe they ultimately used it better? Maybe not, who knows.

I don't understand how some fans can be mad over a decade later that money went back and forth between Paul Allen and insurance companies.

This.... I feel like people forget these dudes while highly paid are still humans, and im sure basketball was/is his life and didnt want to give it up until he fully realized.... i hold no grudge against him.... plus when i met him with HCP he said i had nice shoes and i shall never forget that.... thanks again HCP!

This is good news. There is a possibility that the Blazers could accidentally select someone who isn't career-ending injury-prone, and Roy can surely help weed out anyone who is too healthy to be a Blazer.
