Not signing hickson is fucking stupid.
Cap room, we needs it.
For what exactly?
The Blazers will try to hit a home run by signing a high-ticket free agent with its salary-cap room, which could be as much as $18 million. But they won’t settle for what Olshey calls a couple of signings with “the $5 (million) -to-$7 million upgrade.”
“We’re not going to do that,” he said. “That’s not going to get us to being a championship-caliber organization, where you spend money just because you happen to have it. It’s like the kid who spends his allowance by Wednesday and then has nothing to spend the rest of the week.
“We’ll be very aggressive (going) for impact players who move the needle for this organization. And if we get them, we’ve accelerated our curve. If they’re not there, we’re not going to go for moderate upgrades. We have really good young players at all positions. We’ll have no problem deferring the cap room to 2013-14 and having that flexibility once there are fewer teams with room.”
I'm guessing something to do with this.

And who is this "high ticket free agent" that they're talking about? Deron Williams? Steve Nash? Hibbert? Gordon?
My source tells me Greg Oden
For what exactly?
imagination!
I'm torn.... I think with the selection of Lillard we will not be going after a point guard.
Hickson seems like fools gold to me. Every time he played his ass off in a game last year blowing up I couldn't shake the feeling that he was only motivated by a payday. I'm fine with letting him walk.
So your argument for letting him walk is, "You had a feeling"?
I like the idea of going for a major free agent and if it doesn't happen just use the cap space to get draft picks, amnesty players, 1 year deals, and try again next offseason. Better then using space on mediocre guys like Hickson or OJ Mayo. The Pistons panicked and signed Vilanueva and Gordon years ago because they were the best free agents left in a week class. The Pistons would've been better off doing nothing.
Yeah sure, why not? I don't have any inside information or anything and I don't think he's exactly a building block player, so what do I care?
Mediocrity is thine enemy. I say we develop the youngin's, hit the lottery again, and spend the cap next year not this. I don't think Hickson changes any of that dymanic either way.
