Duran, by contrast, said the main case for doing away with the court, made by senior class president Jennifer Mendez and student government adviser Sarah Cole, was that the titles of king and queen were too restrictive for students whose gender identity might be more fluid than fits the titles of king and queen. Duran said opposition from students and families who experienced loss at the ballot box when students chose past kings and queens also played a role. He said the elected student government members considered the issue for perhaps 20 minutes in early September then voted approximately 30-20 in favor of ending the court and royalty.

The written explanation for the change, provided to teachers by Mendez, Cole and the school's top administrators, makes clear that the primary reason they ended the homecoming court was that it anointed a few seniors, "based on ambiguous social criteria and social standing," while they prefer traditions than elevate all students. The desire to be gender inclusive also played a role.

So based on this...

1) We can't have anything that is gender restrictive, or could be perceived to be gender restrictive.

2) The people who lost are upset and they don't think anyone should have to feel the sting of defeat again.

3) We should only have traditions that elevate all students.

So right off the bat, they need to abolish the student government that made this vote, because that student government is a tradition that elevates only some of the students. It also has a clear winner and a loser, so the losers will have their feelings hurt. We can't have that. So the student government needs to be removed.

Simply stunned. Just wow. WTF is happening to people... Cylons?

This is ridiculous. Why cant we have traditions?

A lot of kids dont care anymore and would absolutely vote a woman that identifies as a man king and a man that identifies as a woman queen.

The genderfluid kids could hypothetically be voted in as either one.

Wonder how much longer we will have cheerleaders?

I wish I could say that I'm surprised by this stuff, but I could see it coming. When I was in my late teens, early 20s, I could see that the next generation was being completely babied by their parents. Their moms were following them around and helping them with everything. They wouldn't let them out of their sight. So here we are, 15+ years later, and we have an entire generation of kids who think everything should be handed to them. They think that there shouldn't be winners and losers. They think that every one of their ideas is special and unique. They don't like to be told that they're wrong. They don't like to hear things that they disagree with. These kids are in college now. They're in high school. And when they get out into the real world, they're going to see that nobody gives a shit if their feelings are hurt. There are winners and losers in life. There are people who get the job, and people who do not. There are people who get the house, and people who do not. The real world is cold and unforgiving, and these kids have only known their schools with their safe spaces and their overly sensitive teachers who jump as soon as they throw a tantrum.

"We got guys, that can play, you got guys, that pull hay!"
(then we start waving our wallets in the air).

good ol' Jesuit, yo.

More like

"My dad's bank account has money, your dad's bank account is funny."

I have never understood bragging about your parents money. You didn't earn shit.

You know, it's funny, I grew up comfortable. Never really considered my family wealthy because we didn't go around blowing cash, but as an adult I realize that my dad has a lot of assets that will pay off now. We grew up wearing generic shit and I hated it. My mom bought us shoes from Payless Shoes. I remember my first pair of Nikes was HUGE for me. I was so proud of them and they were just some shitty shoes that we got on sale at G.I. Joes. But I look back and I realize that we lived very comfortably. Life was even better when my mom was a flight attendant and we got to travel, but that shit ended when my sisters came along....... bitches ruined everything!

So with that said, I didn't really grow up starving for money, but I also didn't grow up thinking I was better than anyone else. We were just..... comfortable. Of course, my mom's shitty station wagon was pretty embarrassing.

COPELAND'S SPORTS, SON. I SUGGEST YOU CLIP THE COUPONS AND COP SOME JORDANS.

I didn't get Jordan's until much later. That was a big day in its own right.

I never got jordans either. God knows I wanted them, but I have asian parents and they are fucking stingy yo. I think my first Jordans I got was when I was in College.

Never was down the the payless though. That shit would fuck you up psychologically b/c everyone would rip on you for rocking them.

We were so broke growing up, if they were selling dollars for dimes all we could do was walk up and down the sidewalks waving our arms shouting, "Ain't that a deal!"

This was my first pair. I think I was like..... 16. Would have been maybe '97. I loved those shoes. I think my non-Jordan favorite pair of shoes was the Pippens.

It's so weird to look back at shoes that I wanted BADLY as a kid as see them for sale as retro remakes.

We'll start having forum Homecomings so each of you can have a chance to be King and/or Queen.

I had some shitty Shaq Kmart shoes when I was a kid, those things hurt like hell.
