WTF? I suggest you read Hubie Brown's book, "How to Win With Less Talent". Dude was a master at transition offense and getting easy buckets.
JVG.
Hubie believes in walking before you run. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. When he coached the Grizz, they took a long time before they did anything uptempo.
I don't know what this means.

Did you hear him pulling his hair out screaming at Portland players to push the ball?
...I like this option. He seems like he would fit right in up there in the Great Northwest.
Brown then unexpectedly resigned from the Grizzlies on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2004. In a statement, he cited "unexpected health-related issues... [that were] absolutely nonexistent at the beginning of the season." Details of the specific "health-related issues" were not announced.
Soon after Brown's unexpected departure, it was reported by Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal (Memphis' main newspaper) that a combination of negative attitudes among James Posey, Jason Williams, and Bonzi Wells led to his leaving. Brown coached his team with a 10-man rotation which meant that players got smaller amounts of playing time.
Absolute BS. Hubie is a master at playing a style that fits his personnel.
He's 77 and looks like a skeleton. Don't know if he wants the grind of being an NBA coach at this point in his life, I know I probably wouldn't.
And we're a slow team. So what style would we play?

We'd should be much more advantageous when it comes to transition ball. Roy is the only player that thrives in half court ball. Andre was awesome in Philly when they got out and ran. Batum is great in the open court. Wes Matthews thrives when slashing. Camby is a great shot blocker, a great trait to start a fastbreak. Aldridge obviously thrives in the opencourt as well, the guy is great at running the court for his size.
I'm not saying we have to be a New York, Phoenix or Golden State. But, there is a happy medium and being last in fastbreak buckets every year with our players is pathetic.

Moreso than fastbreaks, my gripe with Nate's offense is the pace. I don't really mind half court basketball if it involves getting shots close to the hoop without fighting the shot clock every time. We never seem to shoot in that 10-20 second range. If we did, we'd get more shots, and ultimately more chances to score.
We hear Nate say it too.![]()
Yeah.. Roy is the only person on the team that is not good in an up tempo style of play.
When has Miller been a proven uptempo PG?
I thought about Hubie coaching the Blazers too. Then I remembered how old he is and the grind of the NBA. I can't see it.
What I hate about Portland's offense is when a player is wide open for a shot early in the clock, but no one will pass him the ball because they have to set up the play first, then they end up with a contested shot and a miss. You have to take opportunities for wide open shots when you get them.
Is a call to action to hire Hubie Brown as coach really a thread on this board right now?
