Hmmm....This Might Be An Interesting Read

Starting at the top, she exposes the unwitting courtship of President Obama and the liberal press, which consistently misreports or downplays Obama’s clear discomfort with, or blatant disregard for, religious America—from covering up religious imagery in the backdrop of his Georgetown University speech to his absence from events surrounding the National Day of Prayer, to identifying America in his inaugural address as, among other things, "a nation of non-believers."

Yeah sure. You just have to look at that last claim to know what a crock of shit this book must be. That quote, "a nation of non-believers", is a lie. Here's what he actually said:

Obama said:
For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

Interesting. I wonder who's responsible for Amazon's editorial reviews?

My guess would be the publisher provides them. And my guess is that in a large fraction of cases, the author writes them.

The author's name is S.E. Cupp.

Anyone else read that as "C" cup?

It's rather remarkable that he mentioned non-believers at all (and I'm one of those non-believers)

Luckily, the White House made Georgetown cover all religious symbols in the background for that speech. Yep, God has no faith at a Jesuit institution.

that's not a lie at all. he definitely identified america as, among other things, a nation of nonbelievers. some of those other things were christians, muslims, jews, and hindus.

if say you "among other things", then yes.

You have very low standards. Most people don't consider it legitimate to mislead readers by quoting only selected words so as to change the meaning.

it doesn't changed the meaning unless you interpret it to change the meaning. could someone who didn't know the quote take it the wrong way? sure. but that doesn't make it a lie.

so you're denying that obama described america as, among other things, a nation of nonbelievers?

A nation with nonbelievers? That's true. A nation of nonbelievers? That's false. It's grammar, but grammar is important.

Yes, he clearly did not say that, did not mean that, and it isn't true.
If you'd said "a nation of, among other things, nonbelievers", that would at least be sort of accurate, although it still wouldn't be a quote of Obama.

Once I saw the quote referring to the "Liberal Press" I stopped wasting my time reading further.

Anyone who believes in the (current) existence of a liberal press in America is delusional and lacking any credibility whatsoever.

I'll say. You should hear Grampar going off about how important Grammar is important...
