My late half brother was born and raised in Dallas ..played football at Texas A&M and practiced law in Dallas until he passed away a few years ago. His mom, my dad's first wife was one of the first in the 1940s to come out as lesbian and spend her life with her true love, a lovely woman...ahead of her time in Texas. I couldn't live in that state myself. Not my idea of a good time.

I was born in a small town no one has heard of called Silsbee. 7.7 square miles. There was a former WWE wrestler, a WNBA player, and an NFL player born there.

Just walked to the local plaid pantry. A dude said he was from Utah and this is worse than anything he’s experienced in Utah. I was like that’s why I’m walking bruh. End of story.

It's pretty wild. Looks like pure snow but it's straight ice. Need crampons to walk on the sidewalks.

In Oregon City my driveway is a sheet of ice. Had to go pick up my mother's medication, didn't go last night hoping it would thaw today.

Since we're out we're picking up a few other things... Stay home if you can.

Had some pipes burst in the other wing of my building. Flooded 8-12 apartments in that wing. Water has been turned off. Not a biggie for me. My apartment is safe. Feel bad for those whose apartments got flooded. They all had to leave.

Apparently, the pipes burst in an empty apartment on the top floor. Got to cold and blam. The fire fighter I talked too said he had been dealing with the same thing all day, and it was always high up leaking down in to other apartments.

Wow, glad your apartment didn't get flooded.

Me too.

Alarm went on and we got out. My wife and son sat in the car. I came back in a few times to check the apartment and get a few things just in case. I offered to help try and save things for those whose apartments got flooded. There was just a bunch of water cascading down the side of the building.

Had to wait forever for the fire department and longer for management. The fire department couldn't get in for a while to turn off the water. Tennant's were trying to save their pets. It was crazy.

What time was this?

Hope everyone is doing good.
I walked in the door around 3:30 last night from the airport.
My son walked in at 4:30 from LA!
Whole family is together finally.

sidenote: it kinda funny to see NBA players attempting to scrape ice if their Range Rovers and Bentleys for the first time. Most has never used an ice scraper before… HA!

Supposed to drive to Vancouver today over the 205 bridge to see the inlaws for Christmas Eve. Still looking frozen out there.

Roads aren’t too bad in Hillsboro/Beaverton area. Drive carefully, take turns slow and you’re good.

just made my way from bend to portland metro. had to spend an extra night in the mountains to avoid the ice, but even then... what a mess today.

so damn tired of slipping around-- this kinda shit so rarely happened anywhere else I've been where it snows much more frequently. And i feel especially vulnerable after having had two surgeries on my knee the past 7 months.

a bit of rusting underneath the cars is nothing compared to broken bones in the ice. weird ass priorities in this state.

salt the damn roads.

a woman died when her car hit a tree after sliding around on the ice yesterday near Sisters. absolutely reckless handling of the snow/ice by ODOT.

My in-laws came down to Eugene from Bend on Thursday to avoid the ice conditions...turns out it was a smart move. I won't drive on the ice for any reason anymore.

i had already changed my schedule as much as i could but had to make it to PDX this week unfortunately.

the rest areas on I-5 were a freaking ice rink today. Just awful how even the smallest winter event turns this whole state to an all out apocalypse.

i understood the lack of resources to handle these events earlier because it was... so rare. but climate change has been very noticeable over the past few in this area. we get snow/ice/freezing rain frequently now, to the point where ODOT needs to use all the resources they can these days.

I never understood ODOT in the winter....I grew up in Iowa where they salt the roads and clear your driveway or nobody would get to school or work all winter. Here it snows 2 inches and they close school.

Slip sliding away
Slip sliding away
You know, the nearer your destination
The more you're slip sliding away.
