This. You don't want teams to think he's not necessary to their success, because he is very expensive. You don't want teams to do too much thinking at all, because he has already peaked and is starting to sit with injuries. This summer is the last time we'll get this much value for him. Please I hope he is dealt by September 30. It'll be a bad deal now or a worse deal later.

Free agents never wanted to come here, so hopefully even the front office should be immune to that by now. Dame will say nothing except shit like "snakes everywhere in the tall grasses but I rise above" or whatever... I personally think the Miami media already represents Dame here, that Dame and Riley have talked, and that Riley and Dame will pincer maneuver all of these negotiations as necessary.

Edit: Mainly because I don’t want Scoot, Shaedon, and Ant to have to deal with the drama. I want them to focus on gelling as a unit and developing their roles without the specter of Dame’s future hanging over them and who might be traded with Damon.

I think that would only decrease his trade value. Right now teams are looking at 2 years of 33/34 year old Dame at 47 million, and 2 years of 35/36 Dame at 60 million. It's in the best interest of both Dame and Portland to get a deal done. Damian is doing the team a favor, asking out, because management probably wouldn't have had the guts to do it otherwise.

I agree. I'm not talking talent level either. I don't think this is all Dame. I think there are a lot of outside influences that hammering him right now. I could be wrong. But in a perfect world, I think he'd rather stay in Portland. Durant is a mercenary. Dame is not.
