I know this isn't basketball related and it belongs in the OT section but right now if you live in the Portland area it's really amazing how hard it's raining. Feels like November, not July.

(And yes, I'll move this thread back to where it belongs when summer returns.)

wait..it's raining...the temp is cool...

is the strike over!?

Much of the nation is in a heat wave. I'll take this........for only one day, though!! LOL

We have a precipitation measurement device in our yard. In four days this past week, we received 6 5/8" of rain. Mind you, Denver only gets roughly 15" of precipitation annually. It may have been more if some of the golf ball sized hail we received on Wednesday would have been able to fall in the vessel.

I love Portland and all but 70∘and clear skies by the beach in SF. Just mowed the lawn and am headed off on a bike ride shortly

Hey STOMP,

You may not remember- but 5 or 6 years ago we talked on the phone and I applied for that wildlife gig (was it amphibian monitoring?) in N. Cali on your recommendation. Went on to Yellowstone instead, and then from there went to get my zoology masters at NC State...where I currently am. Thought I'd head right back to Oregon after finishing my masters 2 years ago, but the fine weather has kept me here a while longer (9 months of sand volleyball and everyone here loves basketball).

Come down to Odessa, TX... Its been 100+ everyday I have been here for like 2 weeks working construction...

I'm a native Oregonian so you'd think I'd be used to this shit, but 2 months of June-u-ary is starting to take its toll.

I was just in San Jose yesterday....... it was like 55 degrees!

WTF and you didn't stop by to see my wife?

What were you doing in San Jose and where did you stay?

Just worked a soccer game at AT&T park in SF...... the company I worked for screwed up and flew me into SJ.

I would so take that rain here in Houston.

On a side note, when it rains here it rains like 7-9 inches regularly. It is totally freaky

And the cost of living. :)

But maybe cost of lving worth it. Went to a youth soccer tournament this weekend (Beaverton Cup). Felt sorry for the teams that flew in for the tourney and had to play in the cold, wet downpour all day Sunday (this is mid-July right). Welcome to Oregon!

glad to hear that everything has worked out so well for you ant. I lived in Winston-Salem as a boy and definitely recall NC as being a great spot... thats where I became a basketball addict.

I've been all over this country and I can promise you that Portland and Oregon are more beautiful and livable then 90% of it! Feel sorry for any of those teams if they came from the midwest, or south!

I second that! I've been to lots of cool cities but I'm always struck by how much cleaner Portland is than anywhere else. And while I have a lot of fun traveling I always want to come back to this beautiful place. The only place that has been even close to as beautiful and green is Jamaica (IMO) and they have to deal with hurricanes.
