Go Oden!! Go Blazers!!

don't jinx anything, don;t talk about him or mention his name until the season opener.

Theoretically by this reasoning does that mean you should either change your handle or not visit the board until the season opener? Otherwise you would be mentioning his name about five times a day, give or take.

Lopez looks genuinely frightened lol

Unfortunately, Lopez got the better of Oden in that scrimmage. The hype machine on GO was a bit overstated. Watch the video on blazers.com. He looks about the same to me. I'm hoping he can get his old self back, but he didn't look nearly as fluid and motivated as the bill of goods I was sold.

Here's hoping ...

It's funny coming from your screenname, especially given how much attention you seem to try to draw to yourself when things don't go well.

does that pic have an insane amount of drool?

I thought exactly the same when I saw this picture at OLive but it was very small and unclickable. I was so intrigued I literally had to move my eyes to about 2 inches from the screen! Thanks, ABM.

Lopez shot the ball well, but that's all he did... he was 7-8 from the field but only had 4 rebounds. Oden got 10 boards to go with his 7 points. I don't know that it's fair to say that Lopez got the better of Oden given Greg's limited number of touches offensively.

Ed O.

I'd also say we don't really know who Lopez scored those points on so it's hard to say if Lopez got the better of Greg. Casey said that Greg and most of the white unit starters were sitting out most of the third quarter so it is quite possible that Lopez got a good number of his points during that time.

Lopez was also shooting from the perimeter, from reports. Maybe Oden should have been closing out better but, honestly, I'm not all that concerned about his defense on centers who drift to the perimeter. I'd like him to defend them anywhere, of course, but it's way down on the list of importance.

Believe me Oden in the right system could do serious damage. Thank god for andre miller! No more blake launching 3's! Nate better go with the flow!!! Now don;t mention God again.

Exactly! Remember:
1) we have a lot of scorers. Oden doesn't have to be a huge volume scorer for us. He just has to defend like crazy. By the description, he did that, and his team won handily while he was on the court.
2. It's not Lopez v. Oden. It's team v. team. See point 1.
3. He was playing with a bunch of gunners. The nearest thing to a PG was Rose, who is more Dwyane Wade than Jason Kidd. The only pass I saw him attempt to deliver to Oden was bad.
4. (to repeat) players like Oden look bad in run'n'gun pickup-game type environments. Particularly as Oden does not DEMAND THE BALL. But Miller will make sure he gets it whether he asks for it or not.

Dude, Blake made a ton of threes last year. It's not like he was Zbo out there heaving up 35 fters.

Well said. Agreed all around. Alot of people don't want to look at the nuances. How he wasn't ranked above Green and Derrick Rose based on stats is beyond me. Plus he absolutely did his appointed task. Rebound (10) and defend. According to most reports he played great defense on Lopez other then failing to close out quick enough on Lopez hoisting up a long ball. Something tells me we won't see many Lopez 22 footers next year.
