I have a Sharp Aquos 2006 mounted on a swivel mount on the family room wall. Totally great TV. I once had a Chinese Pioneer sound system but Pioneer is NOT as good as the Japanese Pioneer 70's amps, turntables and speakers, made of metal and real teak wood, of which, I have along with two pairs of 1970's large Klipsh horn Walnut speakers (made in Hope, Arkansas-you could play your guitars or basses through them). I acquired a Sony amp, Aiwa and Teak speakers from "the trading post" where they cost a fraction of their original costs. I abide by the Billy Joel theory that you get more mileage out of a cheap pair of speakers.

In the old old days I had a Japanese Pioneer receiver that had an astounding, for it's time, FET front end so it had terrific sensitivity. I coupled this with a very nice Dual turntable and an Akai tape recorder.

Yep.....Your old...……..Dual turntables were great. Tape recorders...Place that next to your 8 track. My first 8 track was Disraeli Gears by Cream. Of course, it was eaten by the machine.

I had an 8 track. I had one in my car and another at home. My first 8 track recording was The Monkees. Still can recall some of those songs although they're deep in my sub conscience.

8 track? Heck, I had a Muntz 4 track at one time and even had a nice Sony 8 track recorder in my days so I could make tapes for my car. I remember the early car stereos I had with a Craig Powerplay 8 track deck with a built in booster amp and Jensen tri-axials for speakers. Not a bad set up in its day, but these days I run Kenwood Excelon head unit, multiple JL Audio amps, KEF and Focal car speakers and an Oz Matrix 12" subwoofer. It's a little better than my Craig setup, lol.

I'm not a huge fan of the curved tv's but i will also admit that i have had limited experience of only seeing them in a showroom. What size you looking for and your budget?

Samsung 50" 4K tv
NHT Super One LCR speakers
Atlantic Technology dipole surround speakers
M&K 200watt subwoofer
Sony 4k Blu Ray

I had to disassemble the main theater set up as we have been remodeling the living room and not going to set one up in their again. It consisted of a Pioneer plasma and a full 7.1 surround set up. I have always been an AV enthusiast and have had many renditions over the years.

Then my wife bought an 87 Volvo with a cassette player.

I’ve been doing a lot of research lately looking into putting together a vintage setup. I miss the days when everyone’s parents had a hi-fi rack and tower speakers. I collect vinyl and would like to hear it on equipment that was designed for that medium. It’s amazing how well some of those old components stack up to today’s stuff. Better construction and better conductive materials inside (gold and copper as opposed to aluminum and steel). People are still paying big cash for old Pioneer, Kenwood, Marantz or Sansui stuff. Many reputable audiophiles still swear by that vintage equipment.
