Here we go, looking for some of BBW's most intelligent members to come out and help me with this lame project. Top 10 Most Influential PeopleIt is your job to think back throughout the semester to all of the people that we have learned about and choose the ten people that you believe have been the most influential to world history. You will rank these people in order and the number one most influential person will appear on your TIME magazine cover. For each person you must feature their picture and write a one paragraph rationale (5 minimum-8 maximum sentences) for why you chose them to be on your list. However, for the most influential person ONLY, you need to write 2 paragraphs. Inside Featured Articles:* Note: When choosing influential people, events, and inventions/discoveries, you should remember that influential means having importance, it does not necessarily mean that it is ?good.? Someone can still be influential even if they are considered ?bad/evil.?Can someone give me their opinion of the top 10 most influential people of all time?

I would say what History channel had since we were watching a movie on the top 100 most influential, but we never finished it.

Religious figures are good, so I would definitely put in some of those: Jesus, Mohammed, maybe even Pope John Paul if you can forward a good argument.Isaac Newton is HUGE. Ben Franklin, Edison, and even Albert Einstein pale in comparison to him. He laid the groundwork for physics. Most people just know him as "the apple guy," but he did so much more than that. I suggest you put him in. Stalin is another big one... people don't realize that he deported millions of Jews and other ethnic groups and murdered many others. Copernicus and Darwin are a couple other good scientists to put on there.

Defiently the religious figures, but maybe Alexander the Great, Emperor Constantine...Shakespeare is a good one also, him and the religious works are the basics of Literature.

Jesus, Moses, Mohammed would all be on the list, because weather fact or fiction their infulance is felt today. Others; Charlesmagne, William the Conqueror, Adolph Hitler, Julius Caesar, the first Guru(I forget his name) Budda, Alexander the Great.

My list thus far:Top 10 most influential people:1. Adolf Hitler2. Martin Luther King Jr.3. Joseph Stalin4. 5. 6. 7. Karl Marx8. Mahatmas Gandhi9. John Locke10. Nelson MandelaThis has to be from the renaissance to present so anything before that time period can't be looked at...Your TIME magazine will cover modern world history (Renaissance ? today). This is a list of the topics we have already covered in class, or will be covering 2nd semester. The list should help you gather ideas; OBVIOUSLY you are not required to use them all. RenaissanceReformationScientific RevolutionEnlightenmentExplorationFrench RevolutionIndustrial RevolutionImperialismWorld War IRussian RevolutionWorld War IIHolocaust/GenocideCold WarKorean War/Vietnam War/ Middle East Help me fill in the rest of my list..Mussolini...?...

You could consider Woodrow Wilson, he presented the League of Nations...even though it failed miserably, it was the basis of the United Nations which has probably resolved alot more stuff than we realize.

btw, Shakespeare was during the Renaissance, so you can still use him. If you use him and Wilson, you only have 1 more...although theres probably something better than Wilson out there.

I wouldn't have MLK up that high, he didn't influence the world, just the US.

That's alright. I don't want to help you anymore, since you didn't put my boy Isaac Newtie Newt.

I'd drop Martin luther King JR, and replace him with Martin Luther. Leonardo the vinci is another good one from the early Renessance. I'll just give you a list of some important people from each of the areas you listed. I have a degree in History so this is right up my ally. I don't know what world you live in where you think any president didn't affect the world, let alone the president that led our country during most of WWII. And if you don't think a stable American government, well then I will respect that opinion.I do agree with the last sentence, because that answer is Isaac Newton.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pacers fan forever @ May 20 2007, 09:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'><span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%">Thomas Edison</span>He was more influential than FDR</div>Explain to me how Edison is more influential than Newton.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (redneck @ May 20 2007, 09:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>If I were to list 10 I'd list;the VinciLutherGuttenburgNewtonColumbusCortezFranklynNapoleonStalinHitlerNot nessicarily in that order however.</div>I like this list. I might have little bit different than yours, but I like it.Rashad's was okay, but I probably would have taken out Mandela and added Newton (at least).

How about Karl Marx? His ideas may have not been perfectly completed but the basis of communism? That's pretty big and affected a lot of the world during the 1900's.

Top 10 Most Influential People10. Mahatmas Gandhi9. Karl Marx8. John Locke7. Galilei Galileo6. Johannes Guttenberg 5. Isaac Newton4. Martin Luther3. Joseph Stalin2. Martin Luther King Jr.1. Adolf HitlerThat's my list and it's almost final, remember, my TIME magazine will cover modern world history (Renaissance ? today). This is a list of the topics we have already covered in class, or will be covering 2nd semester. The list should help you gather ideas; OBVIOUSLY you are not required to use them all. So prophets and anything before the renaissance can't be included. This is my list and if anyone has any last second thoughts on my list or the order please let me know!
