What’s the difference between a guy with formal wear on a bicycle and a guy with casual wear on a unicycle?
Now you've got me going.
Okay, I'll bite, what's the difference?

My cousin's middle name was Gay. She had to change it to her mom's first name.
I'll never forget my first Cheech and Chong album. I was at the house of an acquaintance and we were smoking some weed. He puts on this record and I laughed 'till I cried. He was laughing too but the more I laughed, the more he laughed and the more he laughed the more I laughed. It's like a positive feedback loop such as you find in audio work. It soon reaches a maximum limit. I'm chuckling as I type this.

Edit:
By the way, from my work in electronics, I know that the only useful feedback is negative feedback. All else leads to a runaway result.
just reading this and reminiscing about some of those records got me giggling. Oh, and also the blind munchies!

Well, you're gonna see it as you see it. I have nothing to be ashamed of and will leave it at that.

Fuck that. You're not getting off easy. You're about to own this shit.

Again, NONE of my peers that I grew up with are absent parents. ALL of them are strong black fathers. So, I'm wondering how you "see it" when you still haven't answered the question:

How many black fathers do you know personally?

Be truthful.

Because if you don't at least have a black buddy with a kid, I really wonder how you garner your opinion about black fathers...

Maybe it's because you subscribe to the notions that come from The Federalist... You know the same site that puts forth such hard hitting and necessary stories like:

Report: Illegally Entering Guatemalans Aren’t Fleeing Violence, They Want To Make More Money

You gon' answer the question?

I have no idea the statistics on it but in my anecdotal experience, Ive known several Black children and fathers and some of have gone fatherless or left their children but many havent.

In my family alone its much worse, My Dad was the youngest of six, only one other hasn't been divorced multiple times, with kids from multiple people and scattered all over the country, and then amongst my close friends growing up, the Chinese family and Black family were the only ones who had both or two parents around. All my white friends had crazy relationships with their parents (if they even knew them).

I absolutely believe that family and parents are exceptionally important, but like I said way, way back in this thread I believe putting the stereotype / cliche of Black Fathers being absent is racist, and white people at this point have no business pointing the finger at anyone, selfish parents are an epidemic in this country. However there are also many good parents, Dads, Moms, Black and White. Its just wrong to act like its “Black Dad’s”, sure there are bad Black dad’s out, but theres a host of bad white parents too, we (white people and I) need to be much less hasty to pluck the sliver from some one else’s eyes, when there is a beam in ours.

Edit:
Also I am not trying to say that being divorced makes one a bad parent, but being divorced and then ditching your ex and child and moving 6,000 miles to get out of child support sure is bad parenting.

I have no idea what The Federalist article you're sensing I subscribe. I don't read the magazine. If anything from there would have been from me, it would have been from one article, one one particular subject, from one Google search. Which article are you referring to?

I don't have any black buddies in Nashville....as of yet. I already told you I could have been wrong about the current state of black fatherhood. However, that doesn't change the fact that I'm a proponent of racial reconciliation....and it begins with white folks making the first steps (without being "saviors") towards those efforts. I mean, how, really, is it gonna happen otherwise.

Shoot, next time I come to Portland, I'd love to sit down have a cup of coffee or a beer with you. I think that would be fun.

Answer my question @ABM, how many black fathers do you know personally???

@dviss1, I was reminded of your question while at church this morning. My brother Tony is a great dad and an a-MAZING bass guitar player!

White people need to stop talking, shut up, listen, then pay up.

See, you have the ability and the privilege to just check out of the discussion. Racism doesn't affect you in the slightest so it's something you can ignore.

The problem is, you're too busy whitesplaining to us how to fix problems that never affect you.

Stop talking and open your ears about things you have no experience with.

Start there.

It's really easy to get along with black people but white people seem to have problems with the 2 SIMPLE rules:

1. Don't use either version of the N.
2. Show respect.

Why are those 2 rules so hard to follow??

Another uncalled-for racist diatribe. Every person is a unique individual, race isn’t a real thing, racism/bigotry is used against all people from all walks of life the world over , and playing the victim is the problem not the solution.

When you talk about these imaginary problems within the black nuclear family WITH NO FUCKING FACTS, is indeed racist.

Every single black father that I know personally from my generation it's there for there children. EVERY SINGLE ONE..

But not any married ones?
