No news is good news I guess. He's familiar with AV.

they need to do something. Every team around us is getting better.

I am also getting nervous. Look at our division. If we are being honest...who are we better than outside of NJ? MAYBE you can say CBJ if you don't buy Bob, but if you do...they may be better. We'll see what we do.

So chuck, still holding on that we just need a 3rd liner for $2M and Moore?

I think we need to add a 20 or so goal guy. That is how I have felt since the season ended.

as long as you realize you're not getting a 20gl guy for $2M.

We'll see how the market shakes out, and what we have left. Could be closer to 3 mill we have if we send Powe, Pyatt, and Asham down.

AV:: “Today we'll be looking to add some depth, but I'm getting sense from (scouts, front office) we have lot of good young players”

Concerns me that all these teams in our division are getting much better. Isles, Pens, CBJ, Flyers, Wings all getting better. We better hope and pray these kids are ready now, otherwise we really could end up in last place, or 2nd to last place. Dangerous game we are playing.

Right now from a talent standpoint I'd say we're 6-7th behind Boston, Pitt, Ott, Tor, Wash, Isles/Philly deeper forwards/no goalie, Columbus improving

What about Detroit? And CBJ is better right now IMO...if Bob is for real. Ottawa and Wash not sure about. But clearly in our own division we are in deep water. That division is scary good. Toronto is very good. Boston is very good. Seeing these teams improve, we could be 6 or 7 in the East right now. Not crazy.

Right, forgot Detroit switched, make it 8th.lol

Wash lost Ribs. We beat them and we weren't at our best. We are better. Ottawa, we'll see. They get guys back, but also lost some guys. But yeah...6th or 7th right now on paper is not a stretch. Really isn't.

Toronto, Det, Pitt, Philly, Boston, CBJ, NYI. Good teams. We could be behind all of them right this second.

Ottawa lost Alf but signed MacArthur so not much of a tradeoff, but they have a good blend of top end players and young prospects. Good D and goalie.

Lost Gonchar also. Good team. I like them. But not sure I can say better period. But they are in the mix with CBJ and the Isles IMO, same area. So yeah...6th or 7th best very possible.

Yup, we're playoff pretenders at this point and if Sather doesn't address this with a significant move and wastes another year of Henrik's prime, shame on him.

They're being suckers for banking on DZ getting there, instead of packaging him with Miller and 1st for a game changing forward like Kane.

but they can still do this type of trade.

At this point, seeing how everyone around us got better for next season adding Moore and some 15-20Gl scorer is not going to be enough to be a true SC contender. SOmething significant will have to be done.

Exactly, I wouldn't mind swapping out Pyatt for Raymond either, but they need a big deal like that for another dynamic player.

I would have zero issue dealing MDZ and Miller for the right player. That would be a move I would look at if Kesler or Ryan is the player coming back.

Sounds like only minor stuff, and banking on the kids progressing is the path we are choosing though. Very dangerous.

Gotta wait it out....Lots of strange signings today. The Clowe contract was desperation. I really liked him too but you cant give a guy $5m for 5 years when he is 30 plays a hard physical game and in BEST case scenario gets you 20-25 goals. Great player but when nobody wants to play in NJ you have to overpay like that.

The Ribeiro contract was the best one today IMO and he is 35

Gotta hope Sather is working on a trade. Only UFA I really want is Raymond

Ryder is probably salivating right now
