Tabasco has too much of a bite for me. There's a huge Tabasco userbase down in Lousiana because it's made in Louisiana on Avery Island. There's even a store down in the french quarter, right off Jackson Square, that sells nothing but Tabasco and its branded products, but I don't get it.

In terms of hot sauce, I'm not some one who wants the hottest hot sauce available though. I could eat anything with Louisiana on it, but the hotter, more stomach-ripping the hot sauce gets, it just becomes unenjoyable.

It's like when someone gives you shit because you ordered "mild" wings instead of "hot." Is this a man-hood contest, or am I trying to enjoy my meal? Yes, anyone could eat some really hot, spicy wings, but not everyone wants to have the shits for the next five hours.

BTW - A great snack with hot sauce and no calories is taking unbuttered popcorn and throwing Louisiana Hot Sauce on that bitch. It has absolutely no nutrional value, but it has almost no calories either.

How does liking Sriracha make someone a hipster? Sriracha has a taste entirely different than any other hot sauce named in this thread.

I don't know if it's an act, but from all the stuff you say on this forum, you are obviously the biggest hipster of the bunch.

Its an infatuation. Watch hipsters, take notes, stereotype.

I'm still not exactly sure what a hipster is. Such a broad sub-culture.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hipster Tabasco

Comes from the fact that Sriracha is and has become ubiquitous in most hipster-type eating/drinking establishments and the kitchens of the more "arty" college students at your local liberal arts university. While Tabasco (and to a lesser extent, Texas Pete along with several others) was once the universal hot sauce used in cooking and spicing up certain foods, Sriracha has generally replaced it as a hipper/cooler alternative to the boring old slice of Americana that Tabasco can be considered. However, Sriracha can only be considered Hipster Tabasco if it is used unnecessarily on foods that don't normally require or taste better with hot sauce. Either way, it's just another way for kids that had no culture before they left the suburbs to prove to the world at large how much cooler they are than you.

Can be found at most asian markets, better grocery stores, and in the half-used variety on moving day in dumpsters outside any place college kids have been living.

I just got hooked on it bigtime when I was down there eating gulf oysters...the tabasco just enhanced it so much. I think it was the vinegar...just worked.

for many people, saying they like Sriacha is a way to show they are "down" with the asian culture. its been like that way for years.

Taste is such a subjective thing that I don't know how any food can considered 'overrated'.

Taste is not subjective, there are usually consensuses as to flavor profiles, what's good. some people who have tastes outside the normal spectrum are seen as being strange. some people like prime steaks being cooked well done, which is strange to most.

That's why people care about what food critics have to say. foods can certainly become overrated or overhyped.

For home made tacos/nachos, use the left, for chipolte wings, the right.

The cool new thing is salt and pepper. But I curl my lips in distaste because it's just hipsters making a statement about racism.

oh don't even get me started about people salting their food at restaurants before even tasting it.

Franks is best general hot suace, easy to adjust (increase) the heat. If you like hot sauce that tastes all garlic like, use the Siracha, has slightly more heat. The sweet chilli stuff is good but it's mostly syrup in most incarnations.

I actually had a very hipster morning, involving sriacha. all part of the bigger picture.

woke up late after a long night of drinking. put on my Portland Beavers retro baseball shirt even though I haven't been to a game since the 80s.....then went down to Venice and got korean taco and a hot dog (used Sriacha on it) from the Kogi Food Truck. I instagramed the meal.

then went to intellegensia coffee. the hipster was strong.

after which I went to the african american mall ironically to look at retro Jordans.

:MARIS61:

only thing missing from my usual routine was the farmers market but i woke up too late for it.

then back in my parking garage i conversed with my neighbor about how I'm not watching the Olympics.

then I posted about it on a message board. :MARIS61:

not a lot of people like, but I really like the chinese mustard and oil with chili flakes at chinese restaurants, especially with dim sum.

I also love to put hot sauce on my mac and cheese.

and i liked sriracha before it was cool, used to call it cock sauce back in 1999

LOVED me some cock sauce in my ketchup for fries

but now its so played out, i only eat zero footprint sustainable grown organic ghost chilli extract i barter sex for from a hobo downtown, hes an ghetto soldier on the front lines of the struggle

You seem like a very small, insecure man, man.

Just telling it like it is! its no different from hipsters drinking PBR, its the same thing. "oh yeah, i'm sure you really do love the taste". no, its viral marketing that has engorged your psyche.

I had no idea what PBR was when I tried it, but it is undoubtedly better than Keystone Light, Miller High Life and the other beers you can buy at that price. I've never come across anyone saying it's great or that they love the taste. Relative to it's competitors, it's better.
