Honestly, when I read a couple of days ago that Pat Garrity was unhappy with his role in Orlando, I gave it a quick thinking. But honestly he isnt the type of big we need, he has no back to the basket game, he doesnt get pyshical. Its not like we would be giving up much, the problem is does this move make us better, so we would be doing a deal just for the sake of making a move. I dont know I would probably do the deal if the trade could be extended to bring Stevenson for Mercer, included. I think Stevenson would be an excellent wing guy to fit into our opencourt style off the bench. And a nice insurance policy for perimeter depth with Carter being prone to injury.

I agree. The Nets need a big that plays like one. Garrity can just shoot the 3 and that's pretty much it. The Nets should make a move like getting a decent PF or a C. They do have 2 more first round picks. They can especially take advantage of that.

and the only way you could possibly getting is by trading away RJ, who might not even be enough genius.

Garrity is not the answer. He's a perimeter player.

I'd go after PJ Brown, but I'm not sure if the Nets have players that the Hornets actually want, that would make the trade work salary/cap wise. Cliff Robinson could be another option, but the Warriors do not want to part with him.

Cheaper options could be Brandon Hunter of the Magic, an underated rebounder. He's a beast inside. How about Ryan Humphrey? He's not the answer to their big man problems, but he could help the rotation much more than Jerome Moiso.

If the Magic want Vaghn, why not bait him for Battie or Cato? If we are not able to get them, then make a run at DeClerq, big guys willing to bang. Obviously Vahn won't get us Battier or Cato straight up, but I think there is something that could be worked out.

I believe Stevenson was mad cause he's coming off the bench for Orlando when he was a starter last year. I definitely do remember reading that. If it is true, they can keep Stevenson, Buford is already a good backup for Carter.

Buford is a good back up. Frank made a mistake putting him in bench when he was fire. I think Cato is getting paid too much I wouldnt mind Battie.

Battie is a nice pick up speaking from a personal experience last year with my Cavs. He'll get you 10, 8, and 2 blks in 30 mins

I dont think he is mad he is not starting. I think he is mad he never plays at all really. I do agree Buford is a nice pieace. But I think that Steveson is a better fit then Mercer. God forbid Carter goes down for a long period of time, that is 35-40 minutes a game we would have to make up. Buford is a streak player, so he cant play those type of big minutes consistently, so it would be good to have some positive depth at the position.

And yeah I would love to get a guy like Battie or Cato but I doubt Orlando would give up a legit pieace to their team without getting something positve in return, the Nets trade bait is extremely limited Vaughn, maybe Mercer, or Planinic, if Rod Thorn is willing to part with him inorder to get a big.

The problem I have with Stevenson is what can he really do? His jumpshot is flat and he has his athleticism. Average defender but will make a bunch of mistakes. With Zoran back, the backcourt will be set. Zoran playing the off gaurd will be key since he'll be an above average passer and has range. He'll also get in the lane. I'd trust him more.

Obviously Vaghn will not bait us Cato or Battie, but there could be something worked out. Cato makes a lot of money though, which might hurt us in the long run.

No way, I think that Cato or Battie would be detrimental or no better than what we have now. Cato is less athletic than Collins and battie is not stong enough (just 240 pounds for a guy 6-11).

....have you ever watched Cato play? His entire game is on his athleticism, he's always catching alley-oops and going high to block shots. Also he's one of the best low post defenders in the league.

Wierd, when I saw him play for the Rockets last year, he seemed slow and sluggish. Defensivly I tought he was good, but offensivly and running the floor nothing. Wierd, I am confused about what to think of him right now.

That was a couple of years ago like in 2002, I remember he had a streak going to start the year where he was like 0 for 30 from the field or something like that and they made fun of him alot on TNT.

As far as Cato goes, he isnt super athletic but more athletic then Collins. And uses the most out of his athletism on Defense which is exactly what we need. I think him not being that defensive pressence along side Ming this year has alot to do with the struggles of the Rockets. I would take Cato or even Tony Battie.

In my opiion if the nets were to get garrity i believe they would be too perimeter oriented. And i just dont believe thats exactly what the nets should become as a team.

Lastly i believe if the nets were to aquire garrity i would seriously consider playing him at the three a little. Just to see what he can do. Because a guy that can shoot as garrity shoots should shoot and not be burdened with post play issues. Of course if garrity was to play the three for the nets, he would have to back up rj.

Which in my opinion cancles out the whole reason for getting garrity. So i believe that the nets should not try to aquire garrity.
