Kirby just has elite level command.
31/35 pitches are strikes so far
set a MLb record 24 straight strikes before throwing a ball to start the game.
dude is unreal
I’m not mad at it. We got an ace and in the playoffs pitching is more important IMOAnd our offense fucking sucks but nah we got pitching at the deadline.

but I do wish we had gotten a bat at the deadline as well. I’m expecting a good off-season to improve the offense as the rotation is set and have the best bullpen in baseball
mariners are crapping the bed. Have to win the easy ones. I don't know what the post-season chances are.
The exact terms of the contract are a $210MM guarantee over a 14-year term, ESPN’s Jeff Passan tweets. That said, Passan adds that it’s an extremely complex structure that includes both player options and club options. That $450MM ceiling will draw plenty of attention, but it’s practically unprecedented for any player to fully max out the incentives, escalators and option requirements needed to lock in a long-term contract’s maximum value.
I have to relate it back to when I was 5 years old and my dad's friend told me the Griffey was traded. I was absolutely DISTRAUGHT. 1993. That guy tricked me really good. Griffey was still with the M's.This is amazing news. Seriously this makes me really happy
Wow... that's a freaking steal
Wow… Even the contracts are ridiculously long.Wow... that's a freaking steal

Couldn't be happier with the terms, escalations, etc. Of the deal. Still allows for Julio to earn another $170 mil! Keep em motivated! Love it all around. An actual smart deal.
The offense is just impotent overall. Pathetic. Everyone going 0-2 then striking out a few pitches later. Pathetic. Terrible hitting team. Not likely to win a post season series with this roster. Still have to make some personnel changes..
Yeah most the starting lineup is sub .250
That’s not going to cut the mustard in the playoffs
That and the fact defense play shift defense or whatever it calls.I said it before but .275 is the new .300 lol. A lot of teams suck at hitting lol

Are they really though? I mean, if a team can't have the second baseman move over, what's to prevent them from having the centerfielder play really shallow, right move over to center, and 2nd play in right. Basically accomplishes the same goal, but still within the framework of the new rule.I've never been happier that they are getting rid of that and the runner at 2nd in extra innings next year.

This guy might get me back into baseball again.
And yes this is how most all contracts should be in my opinion. Largely(like half) incentive based. Teams need to protect themselves as well. And it removes most all of the “got the money, now ride the wave” types too.
This could get the Mariners in contention if they build around this guy right, and this contract makes it much easier to do so. Pitching is already there. A couple more moves is all it might take.
yeah there used to be a good number of hitters who hit over .300
Now you look around the league and the list is very small
