It started off with a trade..Celtics gets - Sebastian Telfair / Theo Ratliff / 2008 2nd round pickTrailblazers gets - Raef LaFrentz / Dan Dickau / Right to Randy FoyeWith this deal we got 25-30 million dollars from losing both LaFrentz and Dickau. We also got a talented young (21 year old) true PG in Telfair. Coach Doc Rivers will love this kid. Not to mention Ratliff, who is a great defender. Then when I thought it was over (with no draft picks), we make a trade.Celtics gets - Rights to Rajon RondoSuns gets - 2008 1st round pick (Cleveland)We now traded into round 1 and picked a PG, Danny Ainge liked Rondo so much that if we didn't get Telfair we would have selected Rondo at pick 7.Then..Celtics gets - Rights to Leon PoweDenver gets - Future 2nd round pickA great move. Powe has a ton of upside, and without knee problems he could have been a mid to late first round pick. Our roster looks solid (look in sig)One last note, PG Orien Greene looks to be waived any day now.

Still need a big man, but a solid looking roster. Good enough to compete for a lower playoff spot, but not good enough to challange the Heat or the Pistons just yet. Now if you could get Big Ben. Watch out.

Trading the #7 for Telfair was a bad move. Sure, you got cash but Foye is already a much better player than Telfair and he's not reckless like Telfair who tries to pass the ball to much. Ratliff isn't the same player he used to be for he is getting older.I liked Rondo in college but in the NBA he'll have trouble doing anything but driving and defending. His jump shot is just too inconsistant and it looks awkward. He'll give you 2-3 straight good shooting games then follow up with a week of horrid shooting. If he fixes that, he could be a dominant PG.I think Delonte West is still your starting PG.As for Powe, he's a talented player but he's small. He's probably 6'8" with shoes on. He'll get dominated by taller defenders. And yeah his knees, two major surgeries and constant minor injuries, not a good sign for a 82 game season. You might come close to the playoffs this season but unless Al Jefferson steps up, you'll be relying solely on Pierce and Wally all season.

How is the hell is Foye better than Telfair already? How many minutes has Randy Foye played in the NBA? How many has Telfair? 1,000 plus. Not to mention, Telfair is 21 years old.Okay about Ratliff? But we didn't get him to start him, we got him to save 20 million dollars for Raef LaFrentz. How will Rondo have trouble driving? That's what he does best. His shooting is awful, like you said. Rondo will be traded for Allen Iverson. How is Powe to small at 6-8? Ryan Gomes started half the year, and looked great doing that. Gomes was only 6-7.Telfair is almost locked to be our starting PG, with West coming off the bench. In which he'll be better.

Foye > All the CelticsAlso, in your sig it says Ryan Gomes is starting over Al Jefferson... are you crazy? Jeff is a stud, Gomes is cool too, but Jeff is a god.

No offense but people like you, who just say random stuff like Foye > Celtics, is either stupid and doesn't know anything about Basketball. Or to lazy to give it thought.Gomes (if you were a basketball fan) did amazing when he started, making the Rookie 2nd Team, Jefferson is working his way back from previous injuries. If he does well in Las Vegas, and does well in training camp he could start. But as of right now it's Ryan Gomes.

His shots are off target to the point it's below .400. He can barely hit the 3 yet takes it way too often. Plus, he's probably the most immature player in the NBA. He thinks he's Hollywood already and hasn't done a thing yet. Experience means nothing in the NBA, why do you think high school players were able to make a successful transition without going to college? Basketball is basketball on any level. The only difference is the shot clock and 3 point line.I said the exact opposite about Rondo. He'll have trouble doing anything BUT drive and play defense.Gomes doesn't play PF. He's like Diaw except not as good. A SF that's forced to play PF but isn't strong enough to play PF but he's too slow to play SF. Powe is a true PF but he's considerably undersized. He's basically Ike Diogu. If you watched Diogu last season, while he can score, playing defense was extremely hard for him because players could just look right over him or back him down. Diogu's 10 pounds heavier too.As I said, the Celtics are basically a borderline playoff team. Sub .500 cuts in the East so they're lucky. Basically they'll be first round vacation for Detroit, Miami, Indiana, or Cleveland. If they acquire a player like AI, they'll still be behind NJN in the East.

^^^ most important piece of info right there...still not reaching the Nets in the Atlantic Divisionand i have a question about the Celtics Iverson deal:How do they think that Pierce and Iverson can play together?!?!?! Both of them are scorers first, and franchise guys. Niether of them will defer to the other. It is Pierces team, so hes gonna think that he gets first shots. Iverson thinks hes there to save them so hes gonna take the shots. They are gonna have Iverson and Pierce clashing with each other, and literally no one else on that team

He didn't do that well in Portland because, he was in Portland. The Knicks of the Western Conference. Now he'll be paired up with Pierce and Wally, two good shooting veterans.

And maybe Allen Iverson because theres a rumor that he could be traded to Boston :glare:

(As far as I know)Boston gets - Allen IversonPhiladelphia gets - Wally Szczerbiak / Rajon Rondo / Tony Allen / 07 1st round pick

If Philly accepts that, they would be shooting themselves in the foot. They could have gotten #7 overall, Gerald Green, and more during the draft according to InsideHoops.com

I don't see how they would give up Iverson to the Celtics and not get a Delonte West, Al Jefferson or Gerald Green back in return.

They don't even need Green. They just drafted Rodney Carney.

Philly could go Phoenix Suns style. All swing players running up and down the court.AI2 at SG. Carney at SF. Greene at PF. Dalembert at C.

No way is he a PF, some say he's on a SG and that he's not even strong enough to play the 3.

First of all, Gerald Green is 6'8". Second of all, Boris Diaw is 6'8" and 215 pounds and thrives at PF because the Suns use run-and-gun. Shawn Marion is 6'7" and 228 pounds and played PF when the Suns had Amare and no Diaw. You're thinking too simply. They aren't really playing PF. They're playing swing forward. He doesn't have to play half-court set basketball where he has to post up and stuff. All he has to do is run the court, play his zone, and pull the power forward away from the basketball if they set up on offense. All Green has to do is bulk up a little in the weight room and have an offense that would let him run.

umm how about defense? how in Gods, Allahs and Christs name can Gerald Green play consistent defense against a Nenad Krstic (7 foot) or Udonis Haslem (7 foot) not to mention the GREAT PFs in the west like Duncan Garnett and Dirk?? Marion can do it because hes an athletic freak, and Diaw weighs a lot more and can do dirty work.

You're actually suggesting a team play defense?
wacko.gif
lol, defense is still undervalued in the NBA. I believe playing zone would neutralize more posting up because there's always a help man close to the area.Diaw and Marion are only 15 and 28 pounds heavier respectively. You're saying Green can add a few pounds int he weight room and eat a bit more?I'm not saying it's a smart idea. But if the Sixers got Green, they could do that.btw, Haslem is 6'8", 235and Gerald Green is an athletic freak too (ever seen him dunk) at everything besides stregnth lol

you have an unhealthy obsession with the celtics. and they are worthless. Telfair is a horrible player, and that just clogs up the floor for west, who is the only playmaker on that roster besides peirce.

Is Adrop0fVenom obessed with the Jets? Do other members love there hometown teams? That comment from you was just idiotic. If you actually watched any basketball, you'd know that Telfair is 21 years old, and played in Portland. The best wing man he had to pass it to there was Martell Webster, now he has Paul Pierce. Before his thumb injury, I bet you didn't know he got hurt, he put up 12 ppg with 8 apg (at 20 years old). Don't take this the wrong way but people like you get me mad when talking about sports they simply don't know. Your know a decent amount of footballs, mostly the Colts, but you just don't know anything about basketball.

you are giving telfair way way way too much credit. A true point guard can make all sorts of shitty players better. did telfair do that? no. does he have the ability to do that.. no. Telfair doesn't take care of the ball, he doesn't shoot well, he will never be great with his mid range or driveing game becuase he is too short. all he can do is shake kids and pass. NOt to mention what a beast he is on the D side of the ball. (joke, even though you will prolly come up with some lame ass excuse to say he is underrated on D)Honestly giving up foye for telfair and ratlif is just dumb. And then giveing up a future first for rando? that was almost as bad as the balkman pick the knicks made. This was a very weak draft, so you trade a future pick in a possible strong draft (it is shaping up to look strong) for a pointguard with a borderline 1st round grade. Most years he would have been picked in the early second round. Just because i hate the NBA doesn't mean i don't know shit about basketball.

Playing in Portland doesn't mean you have an excuse to be bad, careless, act Hollywood, think he's the star of the team, complain to the coach, not work hard, not play defense, take stupid jump shots and miss more than 60% of them. And Portland made the mistake of picking him at 13 to make his ego think he's even better. You said he drives and dishes. He drives and lays it up or throws it out of bounds because he's playing out of control. The main point of the Blazers bringing in Blake and Jack were to motivate Telfair and make him play at a higher level. That didn't work at all obviously or Telfair would have had a much better season for a PG oriented offense and former PG himself Nate McMillen. He's a scorer first when he's on the court. If the Celtics do indeed get Iverson, that's 3 players who think they should be the #1 option. He had Zach Randolph (a scorer capable of putting up 20 ppg), Dixon who is a solid shooter and defender, an athletic scoring forward in Darius Miles, and Pryzbilla who is a solid center that is getting better and is already a good shotblocker so it's not like there weren't players that couldn't score or play defense. And how do you figure he was averaging 8 assists per game when his season high was 8 (3 times)? Did he play 3 games and get injured? But you know what, you're a Celtics fan. You have to defend him. You'll always think Telfair is good for the team until he makes a bunch of major mistakes. Sure, he can play streetball but it's far from playing NBA ball.btw, while Wally is a better shooter, his stats actually went down going to Bosotn in the Ricky Davis trade.

I never said Wally's stats went up. You guys don't give Telfair anything, he was in a mess of a situation. He broke his thumb the 2nd week of the season, in which he had to wear a brace on his hand all year. Before that he shot 49%, not bad. Portland was team with a bunch of young guys with attitudes who didn't run, in Boston Telfair will thrive in a fastbreak team. His actual stats before injury where 12 ppg, 5 apgWe didn't just give up Foye for Telfair, we got rid of a 35 MILLION DOLLAR contract in Raef Lafrentz. And trading a first rounder for Rondo was stupid, but he might get traded for Iverson.
