Were you trying to make Obama look good here? Lol........

In the larger defense bill that the President signed into law in November, congressional Republicans included a measure, opposed by Obama, that prohibits the use of funds to close or abandon the prison, transfer detainees to the United States (or Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen) or build or modify facilities to house detainees in the United States.

You think he should have shut down the government until he got his way on that one issue?
Or declared a national emergency, maybe?

He said Guantanamo was unconstitutional.

Did you catch the part about it being a defense spending bill?

I am having trouble finding the E.O. he signed to close Guantanamo...has to be somewhere.

Sorry, not following your train of thought here.

You said should he have shut down the govt. Wasn't necessary. This bill he signed was another version of one he had vetoed.

Guess he really didn't care as much as he pretended.

That's kind of what I was saying. Yes, he could have gone to the mat for it. But he wasn't a one-issue president. It wasn't his "big beautiful wall".

He didn't avert a shutdown by signing that bill. He signed away his beliefs for 700 billion dollars for war.

Well, if he doesn't sign the bill, what happens?

He doesn't sign a bill that has language preventing the closing of a prison he feels is unconstitutional.

He vetoed an earlier version and the world didn't end.

Right, but what happens if he continues to veto the bill? And, no I'm not suggesting the world would end.

Give me the scenario you see where he gets the Gitmo language taken out.

Vetoes it and they override his veto. Big deal. At least he doesn't put his name to something supposedly at odds with his beliefs......

I understand your point of view now.

When did Americans vote on whether to have a war in Syria?

Do you think it would have gotten at least 51%? (Hint: No.)

One hour of air strikes killing no one is not the same as instigating an 8-year fake civil war that killed hundreds of thousands. A poll is not a vote. George Gallup is a born-again Christian often hired to get conservative results.

One hour of airstrikes is a lot of ammo that they will have to replace with big bucks....it's not the target...it's using up ammo like it's July 4th whenever you get a chance....then just order some more...good for the GNP they say....also after the demolition they can hire people to build shit again..vicious circle

Guess he cared about the appropriation more. Possibly had something to do with the security of the nation.

The earlier version may not have included language that threatened our nation's security if not passed to the extent that the later version did.

He should have drawn a red line!

Here's a question:

Trump had majorities in the house and Senate for 2 years.

TWO FUCKING YEARS.

Republicans controlled ALL four branches of government.

Y'all even had majorities in th SCOTUS.

Why didn't Trump pass his wall funding then?

:bwpopcorn:

Bullshit.

Trump is NOT a Republican.

The Republican party did everything possible to deny him the nomination, and they continue to vote Dem on many issues.

He was elected anyway with voters from both parties electing him to drain the 2-party swamprats.

Swamprats from both parties have obstructed him at every turn, but ultimately have lost in nearly every case once the higher courts reviewed the baseless injunctions from the Deep State 9th circuit kangaroo court.

SCOTUS remains a stacked liberal political arm of the Deep State and is far from conservative.

Trump is NOT a Republican.

The Republican party disagrees with you.

SCOTUS remains a stacked liberal political arm of the Deep State and is far from conservative.

Sure, that makes as much sense as anything else you say.
