How far does Lillard have to take the Blazers before he can be called the best..

Blazers PG? Or should I say how long does he have to play? I think Lillard already has a better skill set than Porter did but is it fare to say he's a better NBA PG?

So that means that Kevin Duckworth was a better NBA player than Arvydas Sabonis?

Duckworth was kind of a weak link on that finals team. He was also a 2x all star. overall as impact on the team as a whole...maybe.

Porter was an integral part of Portland's finals team. If Lillard averages 22ppg and the blazers always suck...you can't really call him the best PG. To be the best you need to elevate the team to the upper echlon of the NBA...otherwise its pretty worthless.

To bad we didn't get Sabonis during his prime or he might have some rings.

While Duckworth wasn't aleading rebounder he did block out his man so we were among the leading rebounding teams. He played his part.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that unless he somehow wins us a ring, this discussion needs to be tabled for 5 years.

If we win a ring, he's right there in the conversation. If not, it'll take 7-8 years of good production and good seasons to get him in the conversation for best Blazers PG ever.

It's not fair to set the bar that high. Lillard would have to play along side a superstar to be on the same level playing field here.

Not saying that after 9 games anything should be said, but because the 77 team won a title doesn't make the PG on that team the best PG in team history

No, but they had the best center in team history having a transcendant season, and one of the best PFs in team history having a great one.

If for some reason they won the title this year, that wouldn't make Leonard the best C

I believe at his peak Lillard will have the skill set to be the best but that recipe calls for 2 more ingredients; time and team success. I don't think he has to win a championship but it would make that discussion easier.

Don't forget about Rod Strickland. He was better than Porter IMO. Great at running the offense and creating for his team-mates, good defender, could penetrate. Averaged almost 20ppg shooting 47% from the field. He and Sabonis had great chemistry! People forget about him because he didn't play for any title contending teams.

Lillard has a ways to go before he's better than Rod.

I really liked Rod but I think what could set them apart is the 3 point shooting. Rod was a career 28% 3 pt shooter and his best season was 33%. I would imagine that will be Lillard's worst. 3 point shooting for a PG is such a game changer. Opens the game up so much.

Strickland was probably the best passing PG in Blazer history. His court vision was incredible. Also, his handles were great. He was great at breaking down the defense with his dribble and getting into the lane. Too bad he only played 4 years for us.

Yes, definitely, and he was a great finisher as well. Lillard is not at Rod's level in either of those categories yet. He's not the passer by a long shot. He is a better long ranger shooter for sure, but he's not as good as Strickland yet...

I hope he can be the passer strickland was. Its early and he has shown flashes or amazing court vision but its way to early to tell how good of a passer he will develop into.

Let's just say that IMHO Lillard is the only one on the team with a shot at having his name put up in the rafters. OK, mayyyyyyybe LMA, but probably not, we've got too many guys up there.

However I cant help but wonder the flip side of that. If he was on a truly turrrible team and he was the main or only option he just may average 27 a game. Assist would be down though
