a lot of people are talking big things about nate robinson, how good do you think he can become and will he replace/push over stephon marbury???

i think he is an unproven rookie with height issues,he can really jump but that does not make u a capable NBA point guard

Ialso think that him and marbury cannot play at the same time because you would have such an undersized backcourt that they would get abused by the bigger guards

Dude why do love to hate? Nate is a talented player, an excellent athlete who would have been a top-10 pick if he was a lil bit taller. You come in here with the agenda to try and piss us off, grow up.

Nate can do more than just jump, you know.

You seem to think that that is all he's good at.

Just because some Knicks posters posted saying that they think that the Sixers' bench isn't strong enough to take them places, doesn't mean you have to march into the Knicks forum and start this stuff. This thread does what? We all have expressed many times how we feel about Nate, we shouldn't have to organize it into a little thread. Should a discussion about Nate pop up, you can contribute there. I'm going to leave this thread open for a few hours, in case anyone wants to bother explaining to you why Nate is getting us so excited. I'm not going to bother, you'll just respond saying "but he's too short.".

The Knicks backcourt is already small with Marbury and Crawford. Houston is a regular sized SG. Nate can be a boykins type with Spud type hops. Im not sure of him since he has'nt played a regular season game yet. But he has impressed in the offseason. I think all NYK fans should be excited of N-Rob.

I like how you worded the title too. "How good can he become????" As if you think he's so limited because of his height. You may as well have named it "How good can he become, he's so small!".

no mate im looking at it from a realistic basketball point of view, not with knicks tinted glasses

he is a very undersized unproven rookie

history should tell you that his chances of being a star are very slim, their are plenty of pg`s in this league who are bigger, stronger and can jump high but they still struggle to get a starting/backup role

you cannot pin your hopes on unproven rookies, they can turn out to be diamonds in the rough but very rarely

I did'nt take anything offensive about the title. Nate isnt going 2 have the same talent all his career. He's either going 2 get better or worse. It all depends on him. I think everyone should be past size. Jameer Nelson, Boykins, AI, Barrett, etc all showed you that size doesnt matter. For more reference check Mugsy and Spud

That's what I'm saying. He seems to think that Nate will be one limited by using "can". Whatever. Maybe I'm just really mad at this guy, rightfully so.

Who said we are pinning our hopes on him mate? You call him an "unproven rookie" is this is stark contrast to a proven rookie? The term rookie means that he is unproven so you are being redundant which is showing your lack of intelligence. If you actually watch
new_shocked.gif
Nate play you will see why he is so highly regarded. Did you see what he did in the summer league? He tore up those "bigger, stronger" and guys that can "jump high but still struggle to get a starting/backup role". He dominated those guys and he is a rook.

Ok. Stop trying to make the point that he's unproven. The same applies to every single rookie, so there's no point in mentioning it.
How many Knicks summer league games did you watch in their entirety? I doubt you watched any - he looked good, simple as that. Better than every rookie (just about). He's agile, moved past guys easily, made good quick decisions, smart overall - saw the court well and set up plays in the halfcourt as well as fullcourt, penetrated beautifully, and defended well. He's good, leave it at that.

We're not relying on him to take us to a championship, we don't even foresee playoffs this year, stop assuming that all Knicks fans label him our future. We see him as a component of our future core. Period.

very good post skillz......u must be an adult

i am a BIG spud webber fan which is why i say how many guys his size really make it and become all stars etc etc????

im talking in the WHOLE history of the nba,how many guys nate`s size have been all-stars/repeat championship winners etc etc

Spud was an average pg who was a fantastic dunker
boykins is an average pro
andre barrett is lucky to be in the league

lets hope that nate bucks 75 years of history and becomes the next magic johnson eh?

Terminator, his post was weaker than those of mine or Wohl's. You only liked his because he wasn't bothered by the title. He just named a few under-sized guys everyone knows - that doesn't make him an adult. If being an adult is not responding angrily to a disagreement, then you're not an adult - starting all of this because Wohl and I dislike the Sixers' chances this year, and we posted about it in the BK thread.

No one is hoping he becomes the next Magic Johnson, what are you talking about? The two aren't even close to similar, Nate is 5'7, and Magic was 6'9 - they don't even play too similarly.

You think just because you're older you know more basketball? You're quite wrong, and it's bleeding through in your replies.

Why are you making these threads? You really need to grow up. What are your intentions by doing this? Now, although Nate might be undersized, he has the heart and the athleticism to compete. As JWohl said, Robinson would have been a top-10 pick if he were like 6'0". And of course he's unproven - all rookies are. Too many people put too much emphasis on height. Also, wasn't your man Iverson an undersized shooting guard? He seemed to do pretty well when he played that.

i can only watch/goto games in the evening at the moment cos i gotta work and pay for my house/car/wife etc

long gone are the days when mummy paid for everything .....damn adulthood !!! lol

i have caught some of nates highlights and he does look an interesting player, however i dont seem to remember Shaq,Baron,Lebron,Dirk,Francis,Gordon,Kobe,Rasheed,Andrei K, etc etc playing summer league this year so lets be honest his opponents were mainly minor talent nobodies?

sorry you're continued references to your age to try and validate your points are sickening

Talent nobodies? Theyre playing other draft picks. Its a summer league not the NBDL. No1 knows how good nate's gonna be. We have to wait and see.

He showcased his talents, showed what he's capable of.
Wht the hell do you know anyway, all you've seen are some highlights? You asusme that we think he's our savior, but you haven't even seen what we've seen. Obviously he's not against the elite, but guys like those you listed were good against these "monr talent nobodies", just like Nate was. Everyone starts somewhere, those guys you mentioned were in Nate's place at one point, and Nate performed well - like they did.

Edit: Also, did you see the ease with which he scored against big guys like Dwight Howard in the post? He played great down low against big physical guys like Jerome Beasly and Dwight in ORL. He was just damn good, size didn't even seem to matter. Dwight Howard isn't a nobody, pal.

Either way, everyone starts in Summer Leagues, or places like that.

Terminator- you saying your old and an adult means nothing. It just makes you look dummer that younger people are outsmarting you. Your an old fart that at this age still doesnt know the respectful way how to post here and you always want to start trouble with negative stuff you sound like an immature little kid, the last thing you are is an adult.

And why in the world are you hating on Nate Robinson, of all people you choose to hate on this guy, the guy that at his height still manages to take down taller defenders. How can you not respect that; that guy has major talent and has proven it in numerous occasions, you obviously have not seen him play much. Or you are just blatantly hating on the guy.

Minor talent nobodies? He was playing such highly regarded players as Lonny Baxter, Ron Artest, Harrison (Ind), Bogut, Haislip, Cook, Carter (Ind), Gaines, Ebi, Luther Head and more...... minor talent nobodies huh?

Wow. Just.....wow.

You've embarrased yourself enough tonight, just end it now.

Those are guys that all figure to play signifigant minutes next season with a few of them even starting and with the exception of Artest Robinson played better than all of them master samurai.

And by this point haven't you realized that just as in sports were age doesnt matter the same applies on these boards. Just as you can have a rookie who is one the best players in the NBA you can have a fifteen year-old smarter than a 39 year old.

Give it a rest, Terminator-X. If you're not going to address the point, I think it's your way of admitting defeat. By the way, are you really 39?

I'm not going to get into this argument, I'm just going to state my view.

Just because Nate has athletic ability probably better than pretty much all the league except the top tier athletes ex. Vince, J-Smoove, KG, etc. doesnt mean that he's a good player because of that. His athletic ability overshadow's his height issues, no matter how small he is his physical attributes make up for most of it. Nate aint a bad ball player either, he's a good passer and can rebound well for a little guy while being able to hit a 15-20 foot shot. I think Nate can be an amazing player. I think he'll end up being a perennial all-star and maybe one day a cornerstone of some franchise.
