How loaded is the NW Division!

Maybe we can change the name to the Northwest Trailblazers so we have a regional support base like what was done for "New England." Seattle lost their team and Washington could align themselves with a "regional" brand. At least we would not feel so isolated with talent ending up in Texas ,OKL City or Cal..

I don't think people in Seattle would go for that. They don't view their teams as part of a NW fan base. We are just their white trash meth head cousins that come up to Century Link occasionally. It would be different if the arena was outside of Portland. Kind of like the Pats have with Foxboro.

It's only my analysis. Thibs as coach - he's elite. Multiple veteran superstars - Butler and Teague. Two young superstars - Wiggins and Towns. Taj Gibson is no slouch for a 5th option. Crawford off the bench gives them an aged but able 6th man.

If Thibs gets them playing defense, they have more than enough offense to destroy a lot of teams.

You're sure throwing the word "superstar" around

Butler and Teague were the #1 options on ~50 win teams, no? Even if not last season.

Wiggins was seen as the next LeBron in his draft and scored ~24PPG as a 21 year old. How good is he going to be at 27? I suspect at 22 he's going to be a lot better, too.

Towns had a 25.6 PER last season. While PER may not be seen as a good stat in general, the guys with the very high PER are the superstars. The guy scored 25 PPG, grabbed 12.3 rebounds, blocked 1.3 shots, and shot .367 from 3pt.

FWIW.

Well I think it is safe to say OKC should win the division. Not because of Melo, but because Westbrook is not only really good, but he has that killer instinct every game. Over a long season he does not let up. Long term though I think they are fucked. Odds are George leaves after this year. (as will Melo)

After that we are talking about potential. All the other teams have young players that may or may not step up to be difference makers. Hard to say who will take OKC's spot a year from now. Although I hate to say it but Minnesota is positioned well.

Wild card players:

Utah: Donovan Mitchell
Minnesota: Wiggins
Denver: Jamaal Murray

Portland: The verdict might still be out on Nurk as 20 some games is not really enough. But I think we know what we are going to get. What we really need is for Swanigan or Collins to take a huge jump by year 2 or 3.

Great fucking song! (regardless of creepy ass rapey lyrics.) Better than this Mullet Headed/80's power lifting number that Jim Peterik also wrote.

All you need is some Gatorade, a head band, and Carl Weathers letting you win a marathon on a beach to recreate the experience.

Worked a Manny Paquiao fight about 5 years ago and he had THIS guy walking out in front of him on his ring walk actually SINGING THIS SONG AND IT WAS THE COOLEST THING I'D EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!

If this upset anybody because they felt I was bragging about my job, I apologize and we can have a mod take it down. Don't want anybody quitting the site because of me and my posting styles. Also, I don't want any perspective members not wanting to join because of said bragging.

How about Moda center at Portland?
Old men over 50 can't do meth. lol We could align ourselves with Coffee!
Really, I think if the North West was branded into our logo (which is ancient) people in Bend and Salem people might feel better.

Honestly if we are having to change the franchise's designation to a wider fan base, we should pass out leaflets in Portland that say "Confidence Building Exersize For Being A Peon Sports Fan." I am sure Bend and Salem people probably feel just fine though.

I actually love your life stories.

But, I didn't know they have boxing fights outdoors.

In New England the idea galvanized the region.

The only thing you could do to negatively impact membership would be to get a chastity belt for the missus.

DAMN! I was going to LIKE this, then realized how hard the crack was on me. Well done computer nerd, well done.

Not safe to say at all

You get out of here.
I don't see your post where you predicted all the injuries around the west's top teams EXCEPT us...... I believe that has changed our path and theirs a bit. Happy we are where we are for sure though.

I said we’d be a top 5 team in the West if we stayed relatively healthy.

And what top teams are you talking about? The spurs are pretty much the only one that qualify.

Just in our division, Thunder lost their defensive anchor in Roberson, Millsap has missed like 40 games for Denver, Gobert missed a bunch of games for the Jazz, and Butler just went down for Minny.

I would consider that the Spurs are going through...... the Wolves losing Butler........Milsap in Denver, Gobert in Utah and OKC when they lost Roberson all injuries to other teams that have and will have an impact on us. Roberson wasn't a star by any means, but he was very important to them on the defensive end. So that puts us at what 7th or 8th. I thought we'd battle for the 8th spot and so that's about right. Our guys have really stepped it up. I will also say like the thread I started that the schedule is about to get tougher...... we have a stretch coming up where we play Golden State, Cleveland, Houston, Boston, @OKC and @ NOLA coming up........ we lose 2 or 3 of those, or god forbid 4 or 5...... we are on the edge or not making in the playoffs at all.

So get your little digs in now kid, but I say we wait and see how we look at mid April. Oh ya, I didn't mention our last 4 games of the season...... did you see what and where they are? @Houston, @San Antonio, @Denver and back home against the Jazz.

Let that marinate before you run off to class.

Holy shit! HCP made a post where he dropped knowledge! Alert the media!

When HCP and Sly actually post an opinion about the team, that's like seeing a unicorn humping the lockness monster over a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow!

You said top teams. How are Denver and Utah top teams? They were both in the lottery last year.

Milsap was a shell of the player he once was before he even got injured.

Wolves just lost Butler. Don’t see how that’s affected anything up until now.

Roberson? Then I get to counter with when Portland lost Aminu. Actually, Aminu is probably more valuable since he’s not a negative on one end of the court.

Injuries happen. To say it’s the main reason why Portland is where it’s at isn’t giving them enough credit, and honestly, sounds like something a person doubling down on their bullshit, like yourself, would say to justify themselves. Whatever.

Pretty sure you were saying 'i told you so' when Portland was hovering around the 8th seed, and okc was in or near the 4th seed.
Now you're getting uppity because people are saying 'i told you so' to you?
Brah. you need to check yourself, less the long time posters on this forum resend your status.

Id like to ask seriously, What makes you think that even if we lose 4 or 5 of those games listed, the other teams around us are all going to win all of thier games?

There is a better than good chance that a couple other teams right with us also lose some. Thus allowing us to remain in the seeding we are in....

I don't think I ever did the I told you so. I'd like to think I never do that. Maybe in response to somebody......but I would never flat out do it.

Seems like the right place to post this:

Northwest Notes: Jokic, Brewer, Millsap, Butler

A few choice bits...

"Nikola Jokic‘s offensive production has dropped dramatically over the last three games, coinciding with the return of Paul Millsap from a wrist injury. Nuggets coach Michael Malone told reporters, including the Denver Post’s Gina Mizell, that his offense still revolves around his center. Jokic has averaged 12 PPG and while committing 12 turnovers over the last three games."

Just a 3 game sample size, but Millsap and Jokic not fitting so well together right now.

"The Timberwolves are 2-2 in the first four games without Jimmy Butler and their defense, in particular, has suffered without him, as Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune details. Metrics show that the Timberwolves have the 11th-best defensive rating with Butler on the court. When he’s not playing, their defensive rating is the worst in the league."

Wow, even with Butler and the defensive mastermind Thibodeau, MIN is only the 11th best defense (POR is 7th, with two undersized guards who can't coexist and that idiot Stotts coaching them), but damn, without Butler they become the worst defense in the entire league. Man, that says a lot about how good Butler is, but it also shows how badly the rest of their roster sucks at defense.
