OT How many assholes here against the death penalty?

I do not believe in an eye for an eye.
Personally I'd put this guy on a chain gang and force him as well as other like him to work(for lack of a better example) digging ditches or picking cotton for the rest of his shitty life.
 
This type a crime disturbs me more than any other. He should have to face a man picked by lottery from a pool of volunteers.
Nothing fancy, nothing high tech, just an old fashion beating until he is gone. Without remorse.
 
I believe to be effective, the punishment should be far worse than the crime, and should be fairly certain to be carried out.

That's what I would say. Forget an eye for an eye.

Maybe make him an organ donor and THEN torture him.
 
In this case no to the death penalty. He's 61 yrs old and will most likely die of natural causes before he's finally put to death. He needs to be put in gen pop and let the inmates serve some instant justice.
 
If we could be certain to never kill the wrong person I wouldn’t be against it. But there have been hundreds of life/death penalty convictions overturned. Several have been proven to be innocent. It doesn’t save money and it’s not the moral thing to do. As the State, that’s a problem.
 
I'm not against. I believe some cases such as this where the crimes are unspeakably heinous, that it is not only warranted, but neccessary. Scumbags like this piece of shit don't deserve to live.
 
I say put them all on an island and let them figure it out on their own. We shall call it New Australia.
 
This crime, is the one crime that all men should come together and agree that it can never be tolerated. If they could do that, then they can work down the list of agreements needed to finally make peace.

I am going to disagree. These guys have to know, that the fathers of all young girls in this world are in agreement and obligated to beat them to death as a duty. Go find a goat, do not cross the line.

We have.
However killing this man won't solve anything.
It won't prevent the little girl from getting raped, murdered, tortured.
It won't ease her pain during these things.
It won't bring her back so her family can stop grieving.
It won't give him the pain he deserves for hurting a little girl.

He's scum and there are few things that could make me do violence in this world.
But I choose to be better than this man, and so should the rest of us.

Make him do hard labor for the rest of his life with little to no water/food.
Starve him, make sure he's dehydrated, yet still force him to do the hard labor.
If he chooses not to, whip him over and over again.
But not enough to kill him. Keep him alive, but make him suffer until he dies of natural causes.

I disagree. This is the one crime that should be dealt with in the public square for all to witness and observe. For all to learn there is no place on earth for you if you cross this line. A brutal finale to punctuate the transgression of the edict.

If you really think a public square execution where all those who wanted to could take their turn. Is a deterrent... Then you are very misguided.
It might deter YOU.
But no way would it deter those who actually have thoughts of harming children.

Not only that, but it would make those who participated. No better than the child killer themselves.

My only concern is that the pedos think killing the kids is better so they don't leave anyone to tell.

It costs $400,000 per year to house a federal prisoner.

A life sentence for a 20 year-old gang member who chops up a girl with a machete will cost taxpayers maybe $20,000,000 plus appeals, plus lawsuits for "mistreatment"...

Now multiply that $20,000,000 by how many prisoners we have incarcerated on any given day.

The $20,000,000 is spent on his free room and board while millions of homeless die, while millions of seniors die from lack of decent health care, while millions of...

Try them, convict them, kill them, cremate them.
 
I'm against the lethal injection shit with chemicals that cost too much injecting grounded up elephant tusk coated in gold to kill child rapists it's stupid just shoot them.

There are many examples I can get into as well as psychology... But after typing for about 5 minutes it became tl;dr
Therefore I'll just say this small bit.

The more public you attempt to make the 'execution of pedos or people who hurt children'.
The more these people will try to hide.
It doesn't stop people from hurting children.
If it did with the things that have happened in the past. No children would ever be in danger from anyone.

I stopped reading after I read this.

This 8 year old girl was raped, tortured, and murdered by a 61 year old white male.
Not a 20 year old latino, or black guy. A old 61 year old white male.
I understand you're a joke account and just trying to get a reaction. You need to do better because the only reaction I had towards you is laughter.
 
This is great, seeing all the conservatives reverse themselves on the issue of whether Government should give people what they deserve. Government can start with a minimum income for everyone, say, $30,000 per year. And a maximum income, say, $300,000 per year. Next, Cadillac healthcare for everyone. Formerly rich people will now have to work the same workweek as ditchdiggers. Only then will government have earned the right to kill those who deserve it.

This is what you must believe, to be consistently pro-death penalty. The nanny state. Government should give people what they deserve.
 
Ive flip flopped on the issue over the years. Im against death penalty for the simple fact we arent God and there is a small chance we make a mistake and kill an innocent. It's too expensive to house prisoners too. So i think more prisons should take on the approach that inmates tend to their own farm land and eat what they produce. They should be provided with basic pink cloth and sew their own garments and bedding.
 
There is no inconsistency in believing that
(a) many people deserve to die, but
(b) the state cannot be trusted to identify them correctly, and
(c) the risk of executing any innocent person is not worth it

And that's not even to get into the dehumanizing machinery of death. Should we require somebody to be involved in killing somebody who is trapped and helpless? How should we feel about people who happily volunteer to be executioners?

Sorry, that's probably a bit more thoughtful than you were wanting.
 
If it is constitutional to implement the death penalty then this guy deserves it.

Are you asking if there are people on the board who are assholes? If there are people on the board who oppose the death penalty? Or are you saying everyone who opposes the death penalty is an asshole?

I'm going with option #4--OP is looking for those who populate the intersection in the venn diagram of the forum subsets you defined in #1 and #2.
