I think we should be discussing not why, but HOW prichard was let go. This firing definitely sent a specific message.

lets assume for a second that Allen is not completely off his rocker. We actually have no evidence that Allen is anything but a really decent owner. In fact until recently, we all liked him a ton.

This firing says to me that there is much more to the prichard and possibly penn storys. The firing just before the draft sends a message that allen was not just disappointed in prichards performance, but that something much more serious occurred.

I think we are never going to know the real story. I have a strong suspicion that something much more serious occurred possibly even something that was a liability to the team.

no wonder that guy canceled his "save kp" rally yesterday

Well PA told KP in private and someone close to KP told the media, so let's be honest here PA did not look to make this a major story today. It was not really a major story, I mean ESPN spent all of about 45 seconds on it.

that does not change the fact that allen fired him one hour before the draft. my point is that of all the times to let him go, this was a symbolic one.

Dwight Jaynes implied it was his agent, Warren LeGarie, that leaked KP's job status.

If it were that serious, don't you think he would have been fired when Penn was? Or immediately after the season ended?

None of that "performance review" bs would have been necessary.

my theory is that allen waited until today specifically. letting him go at another time would have certainly been better timing for everyone involved. doing it an hour before the draft was like a slap to the face of prichard and that is why I think he did it.

This.

How fucking stupid do you have to be to fire a GM one hour before the draft then tell him he will have to stay and help out during it?

Paul Allen stupid, that's how.

If he did something so horrible he needed to be fired he sure as hell did it before today.

Way to go Accidental Billionaire.

Jaynes just mentioned a rumor that KP and Penn had been trying to take over the operation from Miller. Who knows if that's true.

Jaynes scenario seems legit. As does Patterson's about KP/Penn trying to move Miller out. As Dwight said, and I have posted this numerous times, once you loose the trust of your boss, you are screwed.
No matter how wel you perform at your job. I bet Paul Allen is as disappointed about this as anyone.

I don't give any credence to Jaynes' conspiracy theories after he introduced the whole sexual harassment thing with Tom Penn.

I hope we will find out. A move like this cannot happen without an explanation imo. There may be a very valid reason as to why KP was fired, but without us knowing it KP looks like the good guy that got slighted. I am just not buying this that Allen is a "fuck", something serious happened and I hope we find out what.

They fucking should have been running the basketball side of things.

Larry Miller is a Yes Man and a joke.

Jaynes made it clear that it is what Patterson said on the radio. Not what Jaynes thinks happened.

It was not sexual harassment, it was saying something totally inappropriate about a Blazer staffer.

They should have been. But the rumor is that KP/ Penn wanted to do both. Not just the basketball side.

This guy is a bigger fan than any of us. Guy has Billions of dollars at his disposal and can do almost anything he wants yet he chooses to fly into Portland to see almost every home game. He wants to do everything possible to see this team succeed.

On a side note. From O-Live..

Steve Patterson sas on 1080 during the draft for over an hour. Possibly the most insightful interview I've heard. Told everything how things work with Allen and Vulcans. Talked about how the Roy trade was 15 seconds away from not happening. Patterson had McHale on the phone with Allen across from him saying, "$1 million, I need 1 million. 20-19-say yes -18 - say yes - 17 say yes"...Allen said yes. 2 people on the staff (he wouldn't name names) were so pissed they didn't take Gay they left the room and didn't come back.
If they have it online I'd check it out. It was great.

I'm trending this direction ... Allen may be somewhat bumbling, but is he really that diabolical/stupid?

Maybe, but this is 2010. We don't exactly live in a bubble. I have a hard time believing that if it was anything that egregious we wouldn't have heard about it. Instead we're just getting new random rumors every day, ranging from KP's agent being naughty, to KP wanting to take over Larry's position, to human resources issues, to Paul being envious of KP, etc. etc. etc.

All these conspiracy theories, it feels like I'm in a Dan Brown novel.

Think about this. You really think the Blazers really leaked this to the press 15 minutes before the draft? C'mon. This has Legarries fingerprints all over it, and Quick even admitted that his source was from inside KP's camp.
