How safe is Frank?

I'm a bit weirded out that you can talk about it like that.

Well it just happened a couple of posts ago. I haven't had time to react to it yet.

I have to admit I have no idea what this is trying to say either.

Frank is decent this season, not great, but decent.

Boone, Anderson, and Yi, all of them have to play better.

That's why we lost to Bulls last night.

I have grown weary of Frank but have to admit he has done a better than expected job this year. His major plus is keeping a team-first focus.

My issues start with the fact that his defensive schemes have been -- and are -- inadequate, especially in guarding the perimeter. This has been true for the last several seasons. Regardless of personnel. He makes this statement that he runs a "protect the paint" defense and that you have to, quote, "pick your poison" (meaning either give up lay ups or give up perimeter shots). What ever happened to defending every possession, contesting every shot? You'd never hear Byron talk like that.

He has consistently preached defense, yet can't seem to get guys to buy in...or perform. And we see guys get worse, not better as defenders, under his coaching (witness Harris, who used to generate fear in Tony Parker).

I also think he bears some responsibility for getting the team ready to compete and play hard. My contention is that, since he never PLAYED organized basketball (and during last year, he was the ONLY head coach in the NBA who never played college or pro ball -- I checked), he can't possible know how to eek out special performances on a regular basis from his players. Byron knew how to instill a toughness as a team character trait. This will NEVER happen with Frank. We actually started winning after Rod Thorn addressed the team behind closed doors.

I think Frank was cut from the high school team 4 years in a row, but on a positive note he learned from one of the best in Bobby Knight at Indiana...... Thats good enough for me.

Have you ever seen Frank throw a chair across the court? Don't piss off Frank, he learned from one fo the best..

Frank should be very safe. His team has over achieved so far and starting to play at the level that is expected of them. The Nets are not a playoff team or even an okay team their just okay.

People screaming fire Frank and Frank is horrible should chill. Also all this talk of coach of the year should chill too.

Coach of the year front runners are the Heat and Magic coaches.

Thorpe, in his last chat on ESPN, just included Frank (and E Jordan) as one of the coaches he'd pick if he had to pick one for his team for the next ten years. Of course, he doesn't really have the basketball acumen of, say DevinNets34, but even a stopped clock is right 3 times a day. Or something.
