I have C average grades....but they would be Ds if I didnt do so well on my tests. In highschool, grades are really based on how hard you work or how lazy you are.

For my age compared to kids at my school I am smart to very smart. Some kids at my school get straight A's, but street smarts and smarts on what is happening in the world - they know nothing.

I know a really smart kid who has a 0.4 GPA because he's depressed and some really dumb kids with 4.0+ GPAs

Sometimes they aren't, but it really depends. I'm one of the laziest out there and I've skipped big projects many times and don't listen when we take notes a lot of the time, but I'm just smart enough that I just get what we are doing enough so that I can get 4 A's and 2 B's with minimal work. I usually don't do a thing at home.

I'm smart, not even close to like "genious smart" but I can usually figure things out in my head pretty fast.

BTW, you really can't just look at your grades and say you're smart. I know some really stupid people who work hard and get good grades.

Average. In school I sit behind some smart kids to hide my stupidity in school subjects. I know a hell of a lot more than most people in my class do about life, experience, stuff like that though..

Austingriz and I are the only ones who have said they arnt smart, or are the ones who have atleast admit it. I think its because BBW is grouped with middle schoolers. Middle school is childs play

I'm not to book smart I guess you could say, as I skipped classes everyday all through high school and eventually dropped out.But I have a ton of common sense, and can see things a certain way that most people don't see them I guess. That to me is much more important than learning a bunch of conversation topics.I'd put me at Smart.

Anyone who puts in a modest amount of work in HS will get good grades.... I think a lot of kids overvalue their intelligence because they get good grades. I look at a lot of you guys saying your Very Smart and The Pestilence/Justice blow all you guys out of the water....</div>I see what you're saying, theres a lot of kids that do get good grades and everything in school, but are complete idiots outside of class, getting into fights, getting arrested and stuff like that. When it comes to stuff like that I always think before I don something.

I'd say smart. I get really high marks in math and science, but I can't do language at all; just me being lazy.

It's like kids in Middle School can't have a functioning brain because High School is more advanced. And for the record, I'm not in High School. I guess I have no clue what I'm talking about since I'm still in Middle School.

I guess I would consider myself smart. I dont pay attention as much as I should, and I dont put in very much effort, yet I still seem to make good grades. I have alot of common sense as well....So I guess I would be considered smart.

If anything, im NOT smart in math...but I can do it alright in my head...

This question's really a matter of perception.I have a 3.0 average and took the ACT once and got a 24(I have to take it again and get a 25 though), but my SAT scores were only around 580 for each, which disappoints me.

You think for yourself and formulate your own opinions, which is more than most people in the world can say.

I would say smart or above average. I got a 135 on an internet IQ test for what that's worth...in school I am just an average student. I am not organized at all, I don't try very hard at all, don't do my homework. I get good exam marks, but Im just too lazy to get good all around marks in school. I'm a B student, but I have gotten better in every year since grade 7. I'm really trying to get myself motivated for school work and such.

Unless you're like my friend Annie whose sister was kidnapped and murdered, with depression and isolation from the community ensuing, you probably don't have enough life experience and neural net build up to be a good decision maker. The low points in life are what build wisdom.

The low points in life are what build wisdom.</div>That's exactly my point. Saying that you can't be smart unless you are in high school because the learning is more advanced is ludicrous. Being smart is not all about learning book material. In my opinion, being smart is knowing how to survive. If I were stranded out in an island, I bet I could survive better than Joe Buisinessman because I have had experiences out in the wild, and have taken the initiative to learn how to survive. It's like that one fable by Aesop I believe. The scholar kept bragging on about how smart he was, and how he read books all of the time. The boatman had lived simply all of his life, and didn't feel that books were needed. Both men were in a boat, and when it tipped over, the "smart" scholar didn't learn how to swim and drowned, while the "dumb" boatman swam to the shore and survived.Being smart shouldn't be measured by if you are in Elementary, Middle School, High School, College, or 80 years old. So saying someone isn't smart simply because they are in Middle School is totally false. There could be kids in 5th grade who are smarter than a college kid. Maybe not in Trigonometry, but in different ways.

I think this thread needs to be clarified, because intelligence cannot adequately be gauged without more precise terminology. Howard Gardener's multiple frames of intelligence comes to mind, in fact I think I'm going to make a new thread for this

More of a shot to people who gauge their intelligence by their grades. You don't have to be smart to have good grades, vice-versa.

I don't think I'm that smart at all..unfortunatelyI get pretty good grades in school, B's and A's, I'd rather get straight A's. I just got my class rank back, 48 out of around 220 I believe. Not that great for a small school in my book. GPA is 3.77. I am probably gonna F*ck up on the SAT's, I only got a 1530 I think on the PSAT's. I usually only get good grades because I memorize sh*t, and I actually do the work. That alone is enough for me to get at least a B+.
