Gotta believe their rocky start could prompt them to move Asik and perhaps a few others sooner rather than later, I'd love to add Asik to our roster in a 3-way where perhaps CJ and change goes to a 3rd team and a PF like Illyasova (or others) goes to HOU.

I would personally feel so much better about our team and whatever run they might have in them if we had another quality big.

The issue I see is Asik thinks he is a starter.

I don't think it can happen. In my mind, Joel Freeland should be our backup PF, Asik our back up Center, which leaves Thomas Robinson and Meyers Leonar up shit creek.

so what's the prob? start Asik, give him 25 minutes a game and give Rolo the rest, love to have two bigs like that playin hard, not worrying about fouls and splittin the C time

The only thing Houston would want is Aldridge and I can't really envision very many trade scenarios where Houston gets him and we get Asik unless there's some third team out there to facilitate such a deal.

those are the kind of probs I want this team to have! other trades or sending Freeland out in a deal like this also works

3-way is the likely way, like the one I suggested or other possibilities

WE DON'T NEED ASIK!!! Robinson and Freeland are more than capable of manning down the 10-15 reserve minutes behind Lopez and Aldridge. And he's definitely not worth dealing CJ for. Let's at least see what CJ's got. He and Dame together could be special.

not in my opinion, having two bigs like Asik and Rolo would IMO give us a much better chance to go deep in the playoffs, just my take

Right now Asik is not better than Lopez and we all know Asik wants to start. I just don't see it working here, feels like it would create an unnecessary log jam in the front court.

I don't want to sound like too much of a pessimist here, but we're 1 RoLo (or even Freeland) injury from serious trouble.

FYI, Houston's last game summary makes no mention of an Asik injury. However, he played on 4 minutes, FOUR! Dwight played 42 minutes which means Asik didn't even get all 6 backup center minutes.

If he indeed is not injured, then they definitely need to move an asset they're not using, and they're not getting an all-star, or even borderline all-star for a backup who plays 4 mpg.

I'm not quite sure I would like to have Asik now with the emergence of Freeland and Lopez doing well. My issue is Asik would love to start and I think Lopez deserves to start. Freeland knows he is a bench player and won't bitch. Adding Asik would mean we need to get rid of Lopez. I really don't want that right now.

As for Houston… I think that change happens late December or Early January. The Asik/Howard front court is not working. They are bumping into each other trying to grab boards.

have to admit I am sorta shocked by the lack of enthusiasm for getting Asik who showed how well he can play and defend last year, oh well. and while I like Freeland lets be realistic, Asik is WAY better

The game went into OT. So it means that Asik missed out on even more minutes.

I think Asik is a great center, but sometimes having a player like Lopez is much better. I am pleasantly surprised with his high BBIQ.

I say buy low and sell high

I don't disagree. I was just correcting and adding on to Wiz Mentor's comment.

But I don't know that we have enough to offer Houston without getting rid of players that I think we should hang on to.

Right now, I don't see a trade that I would make. The team is playing well, and even Robinson is starting to step it up. What is our weakness that needs to be addressed? I think Freeland has been a very solid backup center, and when CJ comes back we're going to have a real tough situation on our hands with minutes.

For me it's not a lack of enthusiasm on Asik's ability, I'm just concerned about his attitude and how he'd fit in (or not) with the team concept.

The game in which Freeland was out really showed our lack of front court depth. I've been wanting another quality big since the summer. But not at the expense of team chemistry. Lopez seems to have developed a great chemistry with Aldridge and everyone else and has shown he's a deserving starter. So I'd only go after Asik if he was okay coming off the bench (or if Lopez says publicly he's okay coming off the bench), and if not, we'd be better off going after a lesser talent. We wouldn't have to trade away as much that way either.

I don't see Houston trading Asik to a Western conference team. New York would be a good place for him. Asik for Shumpert?

They need a starting power forward. Shumpert would't make sense. They really need a stretch four.

I'd give them Freeland, Meyers, Crabbe and an option to swap future first round picks. Would give Houston a $3 million trade exception this year and save a ton of cash over the next two years. Houston could make it a 3 way trade where a team like Philly gets Meyers and gives up Spencer Hawes. Remember Asik is owed $15 million cash next season! Would Paul Allen bite that bullet? Asik’s cap hit is only $8 million though.

Chicago choose to let him walk because they didn't think he had any value on that contract, otherwise they could’ve matched and traded him a few months later. Asik looked great last season but is losing a lot of his value so I don't see teams giving up a lotto pick for him. NY might give up Iman Shumpert but then they’d have the same problems as Houston when Chandler returns.

Last year when everyone wanted Asik I thought he was over valued. Still do. Especially since he wants to start.

Here is a comparison of Asik and Lopez this season

Add to that that Lopez is two years younger and has a good relationship with Aldridge, Lopez is the no shit starter.

Asik would be nice to steal, But neither he nor Lopez are power forwards.

A trade with NOLA really makes sense. Asik for Ryan Anderson straight up.

What, are you trying to rebuild the Magic in the Western Conference? j/k - I agree that Anderson is a very good pairing with Howard.
