We effectively replaced Davis' roster spot with Nik Stauskas last night.

Does having Nik Stauskas instead of Ed Davis on the roster make the Blazers any better able to beat the Pelicans in another series?

That's not correct at all. Stauskas effectively replaced Pat Connaughton. Ed's replacement is still to come.

Nah, Layman effectively replaced Connaughton, since both of their roster spots were up for grabs yesterday and we elected to keep Layman.

And FWIW the pecking order here basically goes Davis>>Napier>Connaughton>Stauskas>Layman. We somehow have the worst two of the bunch.

I don’t think a hundred pissed off fans not buying T-shirt’s or season tickets makes a difference. I think an organized, Pioneer Square rally with hundreds of people would be more productive because it would be public. Cancel tickets or don’t buy a hat and nobody knows.

Stopping traffic downtown won't do shit.....money talks...empty attendance is way more effective if that's what folks want to do....that's how front office guys lose their jobs...not from a rally in Portland..my point...if you protest the franchise...do it with your pocketbook ...and your time.

1.Find his house
2. Get a bag of dogshit
3. set it on fire leave it on his doorstep
4. ring his doorbell
5. repeat

He might fall for that if you told him it was a valet service.

Drive a truck into his swimming pool.... They tried it with ET, but he's still here....

True. I imagine the same could be said for any baller down at the local YMCA, also.
It's a gamble, and not one I would have made, either. Personally, I like Trent better than Stauskas, and we already have Trent. Shrug. Regardless, a vet min guy can't, by definition, be THAT BAD.

Let me ask you this; Ed Davis is the perfect teammate, works his ass off, Dame loves him, fans love him. Did Ed’s lack of an offensive game make it easier or harder for Anthony Davis to cheat off of him and double Dame every time down the court? Re-signing Ed on the cheap would have been a popular move, but would it have made the Blazers any better able to beat the Pelicans in another series?
Without Ed, the Blazers most likely aren't even in the playoffs to begin with.

It could easily be argued that he was our 3 or 4th most important player last season

Ideally yes, an empty Moda center. Or half full. This is Portland and that isn’t going to happen. But if people want to shine a light on their frustration you need a way to bring attention to it immediately. I of course would not do this but it sure seems like a lot of people are inconsolable right now with the loss of Ed Davis.

It's also pretty bad optics when it's your very first move of the summer and you just lost an objectively better player in Davis.

I seriously can't imagine Stauskas having any suitors right now and the fact that he's even getting a minimum guaranteed contract for next year is a surprise. If we were so intrigued by Stauskas then we likely could have just waited until the end of summer after the smoke has cleared and given him a training camp deal to let him battle it out with the guys who we literally just drafted to do the same thing.

I'm as pissed off at losing Ed as anyone, but it's kind of funny that the GM who acquired him in the first place was... Neil Olshey. Where was all this righteous rage when he traded Batum?

Maybe the trade itself wasn't very good, but getting rid of Batum was the right move then, and it's STILL the right move.

The guy is getting paid $24 million this season to average 11.6 ppg, 5.5 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. He had a 14.4 PER last season for pete's sake.

Hell, the guy is making max money and he has never had a PER above 17.3 in his career.

The Lopez trade was genius. Everyone was saying he was a "backup, at best", Neil said he was a starter. Neil was right, everyone else was wrong.

The Nurk trade was ridiculously one-sided. Great move by Neil.

Getting value for Batum was a great move. 1 year later, Batum signed a long term bazillion dollar contract we wanted no part of.

....

But, I understand the criticism. 2016 was a critical time, and ultimately he, like everyone that year, screwed up. Regardless of "fault", we're still paying for it.
You and i see the batum trade very differently. I see it as a huge whiff, basically traded him for nothing seeing as Henderson is out of the league and vonleh is on his way there.

Neil has yet to make a meaningful move since we lost la. It’s been so internal growth this and young team that. This team has a low ceiling and keeping status quoe is no longer a vialable strategy.

I think there is a slight chance Henderson gets a few more years in the league if he can prove his hip is good, but I agree with you.

It was a rushed decision to try and apease LMA before he hit FA.

We are 5 hours into FA and already we are buying torches and heading towards NO house?

true, in 2016 we had to wait like a week into July before we had the dizzying highs of extending Meyers and signing Turner.

give FA time, it'll only get better.

From Neil's interviews, fan opinion is clearly beneath him.

One way to get Paul's attention: cancel your season tickets!

Neil is the second most incompetent GM in Blazer history. Something has to give.
I've got great seats and I'm not gonna give them up forever. Nope, not gonna happen here.

I think it's time to start planting the seed in Dame's head.... kind of like inception.

For those of you who communicate with him via Twitter /instagram - you should start pleading to him to have a conversation with PA saying that Neil needs to go

Besides that summer we also went into last year’s draft with three first round pick and only came out with Zach collins. That’s not okay. He’s a snake oil salesman. Good talker. That’s it. He did fine after lamarcus left by grabbing Davis and aminu, getting moe for a second round pick but after that it was all downhill. We constantly hear about dame and cjs trajectory and building around them. It’s nonsense. Dame went to Paul Allen a year ago and asked to get him somebody and here we are, let go of a fan favorite and a dame favorite for who the fuck knows why and we come out with stauskas?!? The issue was never terry stotts. It’s Neil. Terry has to work with this mediocre team the best he can. Just like last year every team in the west just gets better. Dallas was ass last season, now their squad looks decent on paper with Dennis smith junior, luka, Barnes, deandre. Phoenix has an up an coming squad. Utah continues to roll. We are stuck. Stagnant. We have actually lost talent as opposed to gain it because who the fuck knows how Simon or Gary Trent junior will play out. Lost ed, shabazz, pat. Gained stauskas which practically is pat.

I don’t know how I feel as a fan. Yeah I will watch the team but I almost am at a fuck it stage right now like I know we will be mediocre as fuck and I hope dame stay with us because we will be in this shit for another year at least. We have no assets this idiot Neil always speaks about. None. It’s a joke. Gave away crabbe because it was such a bad contract. Batum became vonleh and he’s not on the team anymore. He won’t break up dame and cj. I don’t either but at this point you kinda have to trade cj for something but it won’t happen. Just fucking up dames career. He doesn’t deserve this bullshit and neither do the fans
Pat is 10x better than Stauskas and I'm not a Pat fan.

Not only is the Neil rage trending among Blazer fans on Twitter -- many are canceling their season tickets too.
