Stromile Swift would be a nice fit on the Nets. He basically does the things K-Mart did for the Nets, and he's even taller.

I agree, Stro would be perfect for the Nets. Rebound, he is an high impact player, a couple of big defensive plays from him and a dunk could turn the tide of the game. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nets pursue him hard.

Stromile would be great. he would fill that hole k-mart left when he was traded, stro is a good blocker, gets some monster dunks, and would possibly change the tempo with his play. the nets should definelty go after him hard. Would make them a very good tea next year. hes only 25 too.

No...Shareef will not sign for the MLE first of all. Second, he needs touches to be effective, and their won't be enough going around from VC, RJ, Kidd and Abdur-Rahim.

Swift is one of those potential players. He has a lot of potential, but has not broken through yet, despite getting steady PT. He can be very effective with Kidd running the court, and with RJ and VC freeing him up open shots.

Stromile Swift is a good player and a good fit for the Nets, but he will not be a K-MART. I think he is capable of putting up the same numbers as him, but K-Mart was a true NJ Net. I don't know if Stro' will bring the same energy, hustle, great defense and post game Martin brought on a nightly basis. I was just thinking about it today and litteraly laughing when Martin rejected that shot against the Sixers and it went all the way in the backcourt out of bounds. Even not as a Net fan, I ha to give Martin his props!

there are two main differences first off Swift will never be the defender KMart is and the defensive force he was with the Nets and second Swift isnt as good a rebounder. I agree that offensivley he would be a nice fit but they also need a defensive force

I agree, Stromile would be a very nice fit for the Nets. Their lineup would be one of the most athletic in the league. He can do some good things, and is a pretty good shot blocker at about 1.75 in only 22 mins per game. For the record, I believe Swift is the same size as K-Mart.

You are 100% correct on the fact that Swift will never be the on-ball defender that K-Mart was, K-mart is pound for pound one of the best on-ball defenders at the 4 spot. As far as help defense, I think Swift can be a K-mart like factor in the help defensive, team concept cause he is athletic and can block shots at a decent clip. Also another factor that will help is defense(as a help defender at least) is that once Kidd moves back to the point guard. And Jefferson is healthy in the lineup, the perimeter defense becomes much stronger. Those guys dont get beat off the dribble out on the perimeter alot, so it makes his job as a help defender a bit easier.

As far as rebounding goes I dont know, K-Mart wasnt a great rebounder when he first came into this league. He was like a 5-7 rebound guy, granted a part of that had to do with he was playing kind of as a tweener between the SF and PF spot depending on matchups cause Van Horn couldnt guard much out on the perimeter at the 3. But Martin became a better rebounder over the years, partly due to playing with Kidd. When you have a point guard who supports his bigs on the backboard like Kidd does then it starts making their rebounding duties easier. I dont think its a conicedence that Martin's rebound #'s take a dive almost 2rpg from last year now that he doesnt have perimeter surport on the boards like Kidd brought to the table. Dont get me wrong Miller is a excelent rebounder from the point guard spot out their in Denver, but no point guard rebounds the ball like Jason.Stromile doesnt seem like that horrible of a rebounder given the minutes he plays, 5 rebounds per from a guy playing little over 20mpg isnt all that bad.

that's true...imagine vc,rj and stro runnin every fastbreak...that would be like watching a slam dunk comp...lol...but the Nets need more than that...We need someone who can help us defensively...

I agree with all you guys about Swift being a good acqusition for the team. He could like Henacy said a K-Mart like player. `Reef wouldn`t work out here, he`d IMO be a bust. Marshall could also be looked at, but I think the Nets already have a well-runned offense.

I like Marshall, too. Because his crazy three could let Nets is hardly to be defended.

I definitely don't want SAR. Stro Show would be my best bet, as you just let him pick up the scraps. He's not as smart as Kmart, but the Nets don't need him to be.

no, a rebound every four minutes is not bad at all but last year Martin grabbed one every 3 minutes. THat might have been helped by Kidd to a certain extent but Swift will never rebound or defend like Martin. Another part of the decline in Martins rebounding this year is the amount of missed shots. This year Denver oppenents have a .20 higher shooting percentage that NJ's did last year. Over a season that mean a lot less missed shots which means less potential rebounds.

I definately said I agree with you about the defense in most aspects, cause the level of energy K-Mart brought on defense is extremely hard for any player to match. But my point is more geared to the rebounding, I dont think you have truely been able to asset Swift's rebounding ablities until he gets those consistent minutes as a starter. In Memphis he plays about 20 minutes per behind Gasol, if he came to Jersey he would easily play 35+ minutes per night, so that will or should have a major impact on his rebounding #'s. ZI could see if he was averging 5 rebounds per while playing close to 30 minutes like JC has done in the past then I would say he is a horrible rebounder. But 20 minutes per is a limited amount of minutes to truely find out what type of rebounder Swift or anybody else is....unless your like Danny Forston who can grab a bunch of rebounds in a short period like that cause he is a rebounding specialist. And thats all he is really assigned to do.

What do you all think of the Nets attempting to sign Ilgauskas? Yeh, he's not too aggressive, but he is a very skilled big man, who can block shots and be a very consistant player (he missed just 2 games in the last two seasons). If used and coached properly I think that he can be a very strong asset.

I think he'll come by quite expensive, and he's also getting old. We already have a young center who's only going to get better. We're weakest at the PF spot, and we could use help on the bench.

Rahim is the better fit. He is a low post player and can give the Nets some points when the other guys are cold. Lets face it.....We are not talking about Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis here. VC and RJ can both go on a cold streak over the course of a game. VC is a volume shooter and RJ is effective driving to the basket. Both are not great shooters. Everyone knows Kidd is not great shooter either. Swift is not a offensive threat except on fast break and on the offensive glass. The Nets need a low post scorer until Krstic develops a consistent low post game. Swift cant provide that.

The thing is that, how many 20+ scorers can you have on a team? I know Washington's proved that you can have 3 and be a force, and Pheonix's shown that you can have 4, as long as the other guy is passing them all the ball (nash). Personally, I'd rather have Stro Show, to bring their running game and paint tenacity back up. Plus the excitement of watching is always a plus.

But if SAR can really buy into the team concept, it'd be a good pick up if the Nets are seriously focusing on a half-court offense.
