Howard Trade, take.....34?

Denver got Iggy for Afflalo and Harrington. Win. Philly got Bynum for Iggy. Win. Orlando lost atthe expense of everyone else in this deal.

Have to agree. I'm a big Iggy fan, but Philly has a lot of good wings and no good size with Iggy, but is much more balanced with Bynum. They'll have to change their style of play a bit, but Doug Collins must be salivating.
Denver made out like a bandit - as did Iggy. It's a match made in heaven! They will be a very dangerous team this year and could beat anyone on a given night. A Denver-Lakers matchup would be fun: the Lakers would want to plod, and the Nuggets would press and try to run at every opportunity.

The Lakers actually made a pretty fair trade. Howard's coming off back surgery and Bynum is actually bigger and more offensively skilled (if less focused). But Howard is a much better fit with Steve Nash than Bynum would've been.

It's funny: if a new coach were looking at the Lakers' roster, it makes sense to give the reins to Nash and put the focus on Nash/Howard/Gasol, kind of like the Nash/Amare Suns. What's Kobe in this picture? James Jones?

Orlando? Total headscratcher. But there are probably bigger losers, like Dallas, NJ, Atlanta and Houston.

Maybe the Orlando owner hates the Heat as much as we hate the Lakers. So keeping them from a possible dynasty may be his justification.

4 team trade involving DHo

Could someone spell out exactly who went where and from where.

ESPN is listing:

Lakers got Dwight, Chris Duhon, Earl Clark

Nuggets got Andre Iguodala

76ers got Bynum, Jason Richardson

Magic got Afflalo, Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless

It seems like the Nuggets got the short end of the stick to me.:dunno:

Re: 4 team trade involving DHo

If the Nuggets never have to play the Lakers in the Western Conference playoffs it is a great deal for them. Harrington's contract was an anchor and Afflalo is good but not the versatile playmaker/defender that Iggy is. Unless you're being sarcastic in which case I would recommend green font colour.

Also the Magic seem to be getting protected first round picks from all three teams, though they will all be bad ones.

Re: 4 team trade involving DHo

Sounds like Christian Eyenga is also going to the Magic along with a future 2nd.

I'm holding on to the memory of how depressed I was when the Lakers added Payton and Malone, and they "only" made it to the Finals. But it's a pretty hollow memory. Shaq in his prime was better than any of these guys, but Shaq/Kobe/Payton/Malone doesn't fit together as well as Dwight/Nash/Kobe/Pau. Nash's ability to destroy you with three pointers when he gets just a little bit of room is such a difference maker. Not to mention that he just finished a season averaging 11 assist/game.

I don't see how the Thunder or even the Heat withstand this team. The Lakers have the best center in the league--and that's a pretty well-proven recipe for easy success. And that just happens to be the one position both the Heat and Thunder are weak at.

Ahh thanks for the info. Everyone else is just going "AHH LAKERS!"

Man, how I wish that Howard would announce after this deal that he still has his heart set on playing in Brooklyn and intends to become an UFA next summer. Laker fans' pants would match the color of their ugly jerseys.

Re: 4 team trade involving DHo

Orlandos GM needs to be canned. Horrible Horrible deal for them. They had a better deal from both houston and the nets

Furher Stern made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Re: 4 team trade involving DHo

Everyone got a good deal except for Orlando.

Re: 4 team trade involving DHo

How is this new thread different from this one. They should be merged.

It is a significantly worse offer as currently reported.
3 protected draft picks vs. 4 unprotected.
Afflalo vs Brooks (Marshon is apparently very well regarded around the league)
Vucevic vs Lopez (Lopez easy)
Harrington vs Humphries (expiring 10 mill)
The nets offer isn't great, but this offer is shit.

Plus, there's a third thread about this, "Laker Hate."

I agree. I guess they love Affalo and Harkless, but wow. This is the kind of fan-proposed trade that seems to work for three teams by utterly screwing the fourth team. Maybe history will prove me wrong, but I find it hard to believe.

Because I can't tell wtf he is saying. He never says "these are the people being traded"

That thread isn't about analyzing the trade, it's just about not liking the Lakers.

Re: 4 team trade involving DHo

The only way to make sense of trades like this is as favors to agents. Otherwise it's a total clusterfuck for Orlando.

...Then I go to San Diego for a party to celebrate my recent marriage with West coast friends and family. THEN, the coolest thing, I'm being flown out to Paris, put up at a hotel, and paid very nicely to sign autographs at this: parismanga.fr/...

Wait a sec, I may be reading between the lines a bit but did you and ABM get married? :devilwink:

Arguably, the biggest winner in the deal is Philly. The traded a small for a big. The second best center in the league. How often does a team get an exchange like that? If Bynum was available for a small, we should've been in that deal.

Been in that deal? With who? Not sure if you know, we don't have an Iggy on our team. And don't say Batum, he can't be traded right now.
